psychedelic drugs kid shit?

^(Xorkoth) I agree that all drugs should be seen as different tools. However, I would like to say that I think drug preference or your experiences with drugs is more dependent on your personality then body chemistry. I've introduced psychedelics to a number of people who previously only experienced the stimulant/alcohol party scene and never even thought of closing their eyes and letting the chemical take them away. Rather then the drug being the experience it simply becomes a different way for them to feel intoxicated while going about their normal evening. Although eventually they close their eyes, listen to a few deep songs and begin to understand where the true magic of psychedelics lies.

There seems to be a lot of hypocrites in this thread. People who get all high and mighty on their psychedelic horse, but bash alcohol users, doing the exact same thing most alcohol users do to them.

Nah, not really dude. Only one person in the entire thread said that alcohol was evil. Everyone else is just outlining the unfair bias toward alcohol that Western culture has at present. Or, in my case, expressing bewilderment that some people have value systems that are so diametrically opposed to my own (or reactions to the drugs so different to my own), that they rank alcohol as a superior tool of consciousness alteration.

Kids are told to despise drugs as they grow up as they watch their parents get drunk at family parties and things like that, so they grow up thinking exactly what they were told and doing exactly what they saw their parents do.

Part of me says, if those people can't think for themselves, fuck 'em.

Just read "Drugs and Jewish Spirituality" by Lawrence Bush, and it tells of Rabbis that start taking hallucinogens after they turn 40 because that age is considered the start of adulthood.

Human cultures vary quite a bit in what they deem acceptable and beneficial.

Its a shame that consciousness itself has become such a taboo in the dominant paradigm.

I was told I'd outgrow punk rock, Dungeons and Dragons, my political views, psychedelics, and cough syrup.

So they were right about the cough syrup, big deal 8)
