Psilocybe Mckennai

Any one ever tasted this strain of Mushroom. I found it while browsing through some online smart shops. It is said to be of high potency and was Terrance Mckennas favorite strain, or named after him?

The original Psilocybe McKennai is no longer available, as the grower has been raided in Holland and lost all his equipment. The strength of this species is different from cubensis. (30% stronger) The effect is notifically different as well. It looks like mini-cubensis. I highly suspect the strength and effect of this mushroom has more to do with growing conditions/substrate, than species. When smartshops started selling it, it soon became very popular. Soon after another grower labelled his normal cubensis under the same name(with some misspelling) All fresh mushrooms currently available under the name McKennai is fake, being normal cubensis relabeled.

I think it is a particular variety of cubensis different than most?

yea iv grow plenty of cubensis with caps like that,,, i assume it was more growing conditions,, rather than strain of cubensis,, after all a cube. is pretty much a cube. the only difference being location it was first picked in, after all if you lets say grew some white widow in england and spain its would be the same but one would be far better quality. its all about marketing...... a cube. will be more potent if its growing requirements are better met.

I thought it was just another cubensis strain.

You often used to get those Dutch shops claiming "Our new strain of cubensis Psilocybe Valsalva - 10 times stronger than normal cubensis". They'd charge a tenner a bag more for it and then they'd just send psilocybe cubensis mexican out.
