i know it has some slight stimulant properties given that it's related to ephedrine

i'm just asking because I take like 120mg+ per day, sometimes 240 to help with nasal congestion

i'm aware i sort of take more than i should, even though 240mg is the max recommended daily dose, but part of me just thinks that i'll have more nasal congestion relief by taking more

anyways, in the past, when i would wake up and take a 120mg extended release claritin D, then also have 2 30mg sudafeds in the morning

then take like 4-6 more of those during the day, i did feel some weird side effects, mainly blood pressure related (i was taking 800mg+ caffeine also) and just feeling really loopy in a bad way
a few times i was sort of scared and had to lie in bed and go to sleep for the feelings to pass

This belongs to basic drug discussion if you ask me. You will build up some tolerance towards this substance. This doesn't mean that some (side) effects aren't affected as much by this tolerance (e.g. most obviuoisly tissue damage by contact with the chemical^^). You would be best off speaking to a gp about this imho.

When you say more nasal congestion relief by taking more you are referring to more than 240mg, not 240mg over 120mg, right? Sometimes desired effects of certain drugs are roofed. E.g. acetyl salicylic acid doesn't give much benefit past 1000mg, while the increase from 500 to 1000 makes a huge difference still.

Pseudoephedrine will raise blood pressure because it acts as an agonist of adrenergic receptors and a releaser of norepinephrine/adrenaline at the norepinephrine transporter.

Overuse increases your risk of heart attack, stroke, etc and especially in combination with caffeine is not good for you in the long run (hypertension).
