30mg Pseudoephedrine & 0.5g Paracetamol - 1st P.E. - Very Energised

I have a new job where I have to get physically active for long periods of time (sorry I cannot go in to details on this!) After a morning at work, I was on lunch break, and took a pill (intended for relieving colds, I believe) having never tried any kind of ephedra. Prior to deciding to take the pill, I had read up on this class of drugs on Erowid. The result of my reading was the decision never to consider a dose any larger than 100mg.

Pill contents:
  • 30mg of Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride
  • 0.5g of Paracetamol (I think this is called Acetaminophen in the US).

11:00-12:00: Walking around, eating, back to the office.

12:00: Took one pill, which contains 30mg of Pseudoephedrine. Sat around playing with internet for the next hour or so.

1:00: Talked to some people, stood up a little and maybe felt something energy-wise but didn't walk around or do anything active to really notice the difference. Started to feel very cold.

1:30: Started physically active work again. The cold went away. Definitely felt abnormally energised - great!

2:30: Break in work. My mouth was extremely dry. Despite drinking water, it stayed that way. I was positively emotionally charged (possibly as a result of my abnormally successful work stint!) and still energetic.

2:50: Walked from work to the station. Felt energised.

3:10: Met some friends close to home, who invited me to go shopping. Normally I would be too tired to think about going out after a day's work, but I didn't think twice about joining them this time around.

Around 5:00: Finished shopping (I tried lots of clothes and bought quite a few.. normally shopping bores me to tears and I have no patience for it whatsoever!), and went for dinner.

Around 6:30 (??? getting very vague on times here): Walked to the train station and jumped on a train home. About now I started to feel the energy sapping and aches coming in to my knees (which I had exerted a lot earlier in the afternoon). Remained in good spirits and by the time I made it home (7:00? 7:30?) was still energised enough to go out again briefly for a second time.

The next day, I could still feel a little ache in my limbs (due to the exercise), but it had almost gone. All things considered, I am very happy with this experience and will be taking equal doses of ephedrine in future to assist me with my otherwise tiring and strenuous work.

One observation - compared to MDxx, which in my experience seem to block your ability to perceive your level of hydration through normal mechanisms - pseudoephedrine allows you to maintain your normal awareness of your body.

As a final note, I would of course be happier to have a pure source of (Pseudo)ephedrine. I plan read up on the effects of paracetamol (acetaminophen) to see what the effects of taking two or three pills simultaneously (1 - 1.5g of paracetamol) will be.

If you try ephedra yourself, from my reading I would suggest you keep the dose under 100mg. Probably for a 'normal' (healthy, well rested, regular weight-range) person, 30mg is enough to give you noticable effects, whereas if dosage effects the intensity of the experience, double that should be fairly strong. The biggest side-effect (dehydration) will keep me away from a larger than 60mg dose for the forseeable future.

missing_one, you did a great job on writing this report up, but pseudoephedrine...? yuck, how i hate the word (Pseudo)ephedrine, i think it's a disgusting high. ephedrine (or ephedra) isn't much better believe me, just drink some cups of coffee before and on your work, i prefer caffeine over ephedrine any day!! ;)

Well written report man. :)

The reccomended Paracetamol dosage for headaches for an adult is 1gram. That is two tablets, all paracetaol pills as far as i know are standardized at 500mg. I sometimes take 3 for a annoying headache (if I'm out of weed ofcourse). You are not recommended to exceed 4 grams within 24 hours. And ofcourse, that is spacing them out. Taking them all at once would be bad for your liver. People that dose on Panadol every day though for small headaches etc.. are going to end up with a weak liver.

You actually felt 30mg of Pesudoephedrine?

and..

Enjoyed it?

World first man..but none the less. A very well written report, next time try some better drugs and I'm sure you will have some killer reports.

Oh and while the recommended daily maximum for Paracetemol is 4 grams. The lowest recorded death from Paracetemol alone is 11 grams. I personally think the recommended daily maximum is a bit on the over-cautious side and have never felt any ill side effects from 6 grams a day (not to be a frequent habit) but believe it is a more reasonable limit.

blowmonkey, what do you find disgusting about it?

missing_one, i see ephedra as a pumped up adrenaline high, but, it's a lot more shaky, it's nauseating, it's this, it's that.. i simply don't like it, i describe it as a dirty high because i have no other words to put it. it's just not for me, i find that caffeine does a great job in keeping you energized as well and it gives me more of a warm feeling (not only in my stomach:)) so overall a better feeling. you may want to look up on other stimulants, they have a LOT of em, caffeine, guarana, amphetamine, methamphetamine, etc, etc. small quantaties of meth or amph can help you out as well, only since you've mentioned the benefits of pseudoephedrine against the health risks associated with mdxx substances, i don't think your going to be taking these. but just take a look, i think there are far better substances than (pseudo)ephedrine available. just my 6 cents :)

Interesting. I don't find it nauseating at all. Maybe you had too much? I find exactly what you describe on caffeine, keeps me awake but is nauseating and doesn't let me concentrate. It's not 'clean'. Maybe different people's metabolisms react quite differently to different stimulants.

And you're right - I wouldn't take small amounts of amphetamine on a weekly or more regular basis!

Love it.

I took it again today at work, great again. I love the stuff. Costs near-nothing, works wonders, so much nicer than drinking coffee or similar... I love ephedrine. :)

I used to like ephedrine until I took better stims. But hey whatever floats your boat I guess.

Phactor, I have had 'speed' before a number of times, but it's a bit too 'heavy' to feel comfortable with regular use. I get a different kind of energy from pseudoephedrine, and feel comfortable taking it regularly. I keep a clear mind and can actually sit still and/or shut up if required. Glad to see someone else like(s/d) it though, I am beginning to feel like the only one!

I think it's great if you have to work with a cold in a fridge all day. But I'd take 4-mar or meth over pseudo any day. Meth atleast clears out our nasal cavity as well. It's also important to note that abuse of pseudoephedrine has caused many problems for folks out there ranging from digestive problems to mental problems. Play it safe! Peace, Spinal

Spinal: I know you're not saying meth/4-mar is safer than pseudo.. but meth would cause much more health and mental problems than this drug.. but then again, you do get a bit more out of it that night ;)

Just be carefull, you don't wanna go getting hooked on psuedoephedrine man. Withdrawall is a bitch with that stuff....or so I've heard. ;)

OK the previous poster hit my inbox and brought me back to this thread, and I want to write the following regarding my regular use of the aforementioned pills over the last month.

I have been taking the above 30mg PE / 0.5mg in the following pattern:

1st week
1 tablet, one day.

(four day break)

2nd week
1 tablet per day for 3 consecutive days.

(four day break)

3rd week
1 tablet, 1 tablet, 2 tablets over 3 consecutive days.

(four day break)

4th week
1 tablet (little effect), 2 different (caffeine only) tablets, 2 tablets over 3 consecutive days.

The pills were working brilliantly, however on the first day of the fourth week (this week), the pill did not seem to take effect. This may have been due to my eating pattern or something, but I just didn't get effects within anything like the normal 15min to 30min timeframe I would normally have noticed them in. The effects may have come a few hours later however (due to a full stomach slowing digestion?) as I wound up dancing for hours on nothing but a half a glass of whisky (unheard of for me).

The third day of the fourth week, I took two pills and did not get much of an effect again, though I did have another full stomach.

I will try an empty-stomach pill next week. If I get little effect I will cease using these for awhile. It would be a bit of a bummer if tolerance developed so quickly.

On the other hand if it comes on as quickly as it used to, I would recommend to others to only take pseudo-ephedrine pills on an empty stomach.

(Update to follow.)

Thanks for ther update!
Do you personally feel they have an addictive side to them?

No, not for me ... not in the slightest. I have no withdrawls at all. I feel tired (like I've done a lot of work - which I have) the day after I stop taking them each week, but otherwise nothing, really.

However, when I first started taking them they had a much stronger energising effect. Perhaps trying to hold on to the energised-feeling could lead people to increase dosage and keep 'chasing the high'. (Though really, it's not something you'd normally chase - it's just energy!).

I have read that ephedrine is more addictive than pseudo-ephedrine.

OK so I had another tablet today, which is week 5, second day. Week 5, first day I only had caffeine.

Today I did not have an empty stomach. Far from it. The tablet came on quite quickly, but also seemed to leave quite quickly. I had energy, but then felt sapped. I felt a lot of sweating. I was very thirsty and had to urinate.

Later, walking out to my lunch break, I went in to a store to buy a drink. After paying, I walked out without the drink. This 'energised' but 'not quite aware of the world' feeling has come to me before, but I wasn't certain if it was an effect of the drug. I am certain now.

I think pseudoephedrine is good for doing one thing you have done before and can do well. But overall awareness seems to be affected. Probably not good, therefore, to mix with 'awareness based' highs like MDMA.

Experimenting with this stuff is quite interesting.
