Misc Provigil(modafinil) - I need some answers from someone with practical knowledge

Hi there, I now take 60mg Nardil (splitted in two doses) with 300mg of Lyrica( at night) + ProVigil(modafinil) in dosage range 100-200mg on a daily basis or PRN (due to fatigue from this combo).

I have not too much experiences from modafinil yet and in truth, I am a little bit cofused from effects of modafinil to me. I aslo know that my case ( many drugs in combination) is a bit specific, but even though I would like to ask some questions :

According to your personal experiences, Have you also experienced that the effects from modafinil last for only a couple of hours (that it has too short time of duration) ?
As for me, I can get maximum of its effects in the course of first 2-3 hours then the effects gradually go away, and they are often followed by a tiredness and drowsiness (something in a way like comedown, as I then feeling even more exhausted).

When have you taken your dose and How much have you taken a day ? Also I wonder, Have you ever experienced better effect ( or even longer period of time ) when you splitted your dosage ? or Has anyone even benefit from as low dose as 50mg of modafinil ?

I usually take a single dose of 100mg about 2-3 PM (because after AM I starting feeling fatigued and exhausted from Nardil). I have experienced, that when I take 100 mg in the AM (like most people recommend)the effects lasts only a couple of hours and a short time after, I started to get more sleepy and tired so I had to take another 100mg around PM (and as I mentioned, I often do not need take modafinil until PM or noon).
Do you think that if I spread out 100mg throughout the day, it will help me to stay awake all the day? According to my case, Should I take 100 or maybe 200mg in the AM rather than 100mg in the PM ?

If I take double dose of 200mg in the morning then Does it mean that effect of modafinil will increase or Does it mean that the effects will last for a longer period of time (double time than at 100mg dose ) ?

I read somewhere that Modafinil can make people alot more outgoing, social, and also it helps with mood. Is this really possible ? Have someone experienced this effect ?

I often use Oxazepam 10mg during a day or Xanax XR and due to it I wonder, If it is possible that benzos can negatively affect the way how modafinil works ? and there could be any connection between BZD and influence effect of modafinil.

Have you experienced that if you take modafinil everyday then it is not as effective as when you take it occasionally ?

My leaflet says that the tablets must be swallowed whole so I suppose that it is not possible or recommended to split a pill in half. Do you think, if I split a tablet that it may not work as it should (for example, onset would be much more faster with a shorter duration ) ? My tablets looks like the image below :

The reason why I am asking these questions is mainly because, my psychiatrist(and any other in my country) has no any practical or theoretical experiences, knowledge about the Modafinil. It is mainly because of that in my country is modafinil prescribed ONLY for narcolepsy and ONLY sporadically.
Also my doctor has poor knowledge about the Nardil and any other physicians in my country have never heard about this drug. So this is also sucks.


If you have any other advice, sugesstions to my case - modafinil, dosage, taking, other drugs in combo etc., then I would be very glad if you share your thoughts with me.

I've used modafinil quite a lot, and usually it lasts all day. Id dose in the morning and if you start to feel sleepy dose more.

Benzos won't negatively affect modafinil, but modafinil will decrease the effects of xanax because it is an enzyme inducer. I'd say 1mg of xanax on modafinil feels like .5mg

I occasionally use modafinil before a shift at work whenever I have been seshing it up the night before, however my manager frequently uses it on a daily basis. For me, 100mg is enough to get my brain working back at full capacity for around 4 hours ish. During this time the knowledge that I am working properly again seems to act psychosomatically perhaps, I do feel more outgoing and social but I believe this is just due to the knowledge of my own ability whilst on the drug. Waiter in restaurant btw. I tend not to bother with modafinil unless I really need it. I do find that 100mg is a little short, and I feel a bit 'dead on my feet' after its wore off. I tend to throw in 0.25-0.5mg etizolam if I'm really rough or comedowny to combat this and kill any anxiety issues developing. Personally I do not find any bad problems arising from a combo of etizolam and modafinil. Obviously within the therapeutic dose range.
For you perhaps 100mg in the am and 200mg in the PM may be more worthwhile. In one go each not split over time to have the most beneficial effects. I split my 200mg pills to take 100mg when I need to - do not worry about splitting but don't bother splitting to 50mg, the effect is barely noticable. Yes occasional use is more beneficial than every day, an 'as and when' basis I follow. Taking 200mg will make the effects somewhat more pronounced ('zen-like concentration') and they will also last a little longer, I found 5-6 hours instead of perhaps 3-4. Hope that helps.
