I think I may have prostatitis, what should I do?
My symptoms include, burning/irritation after urinating (in urethra near opening), urethral discharge after not urinating for a while (milky white), and the first time I urinated today I had a very bad burn during urination.

Errr.....go to the doctor??? Either that or stop trolling. There's nothing anyone on here can do about it. It could be that or just a regular urinary tract infection (more likely, and sounds more like it from your description of symptoms), either of which can be easily treated with anti-biotics.

I was just wondering if there was something else I could do without going to the doctor, but never mind. Thanks.

Nope not really. At the first on-set of symptoms you can drink a urinary-alkaliniser such as Ural, and/or drink cranberry juice, which can help to stop the infection developing. But if it's as advanced as it sounds you'll need anti-biotics, which you can of course only get from your doctor.

Alright, if it just started today do you think it's too late to try those? I wouldn't be able to get any until tomorrow however.

Certainly worth a try. If you can't get to the pharmacy until tomorrow, you can dissolve some sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in some water and drink that. It basically does the same job as Ural. You can google something like "sodium bicarbonate UTI" for more info ;)

Oh, and also, drink heaps of water so you can flush your bladder out. That should help too.

Will do. I've been drinking quit a bit of water to try and flush any bacteria out. Thanks for the replies, hopefully the sodium bicarbonate will work.

Okay, after taking that my symptoms have disappeared, but should I continue taking the baking soda for a couple of days or should the one time have been enough?

Maybe just do it once more and then see how you go, repeat if necessary. If the symptoms come back though you really should go to the doctor to get anti-biotics.
Glad to hear it worked :)

Well my symptoms came back. But last night I tried taking the baking soda 3 times like a site suggested. Well it still didn't work so I'm going to the doctor but my symptoms are a little different now. Does this still sound like a UTI? I get minor irritations when I urinate but it's not a burning, almost like a tickle. And towards the head of my penis in the urethra it itches sometimes and putting pressure in it relieves the itch. My urine is also very cloudy when I haven't taken any baking soda.

And is alright to use baking soda to kind of keep the symptoms down until I visit the doctor? I figured they're going to give me a urine test and I don't want to mess with the results.

Well I have good news and bad news.
The good news, my infection should be gone after simple medication.
The bad news, my girlfriend cheated on me and gave me chlamydia. Didn't see that one coming.

My condolences, that fucking sucks.

Alright, now a question as to how exactly I got chlamydia. Apparently she cheated over 4 months ago, and we've been sexually active a lot since then, so wouldn't I have caught it sooner? Does this mean she has had even more recent partners? Is there another possible way I could have gotten it?

It's not a 100% I have chlamydia, but that's what they suspect because my UTI results were negative, and I got medication for chlamydia. I took the medication over 12 hours ago and I still have symptoms. Not sure how long it takes for the antibiotics to work but they only gave me four pills and said take them all at once.

Sounds like chlamydia or gonorrhoea. In men, something like half or those with chlamydia and three quarters with gonorrhoea are asymptomatic. You could have had it for a while and only become symptomatic recently. And don't expect the meds to work over night, give it a few days.

Well it's been a couple of days now and I was given 4 pills to take all at once. Shouldn't it have worked by now?

Edit: After finding out the drug name I guess it takes 3-5 days to clear up.
