Propoxyphene nasylate for opiate withdrawal

Ive heard conflicting stories regarding the toxicity and buildup propoxyphene can have on your system compared to other opiates. Im currently going through a relatively mild oxycodone withdrawal and have been using propoxyphene to help for work and school. I recieved the pills which are 100mg propoxyphene and 500mg apap. I took 4 on sunday night, 2 monday morning before class, 2 monday night before sleep and i havent taken any today. The withdrawal is kicking in and i just wanted to make sure before i took anymore if it was safe for my system. The pills have been a godsend for the withdrawal so far

also, your dose sounds fine. I dont think that there is that much APAP in there that it will be bad for you taking those amounts over so much time.

i remember reading somewhere you should not take more than 4 darvocet at a time because each one has around 200-300mgs APAP, and the max APAP one-time dose is 1000mg, and the max 24-period is 4000mg.
 
Yeah that is cool on the Propoxyphene. 2000mg APAP isn't great in just a few hours but it's not horrible either. I think if you do this temporarily to get off Oxy, the pros outweigh the cons. I like to take milk thistle and drink plenty of water when taking APAP.

yeah they suck for getting high but like you said, they can be helpful with W/D. It's probably better that they suck for getting high and have APAP. That will hopefuly limit the amount taken and support using a minimal amount for W/D only. Imagine tying to use Morphine for W/D. The addict will most certainly take more to get high.
 
I think Each Darvocet 100 has 650mg APAP not 500. So the number need to be adjusted slightly. He does need to watch the APAP.
 
I have noticed that tramadol helps me out a good bit when I'm out of hydrocodone I take on a regular basis and the occasional oxycodone I do. It takes car of the restless feeling I get. I didn't realize how much until this week and I tried quiting without it.

I stopped using hydrocodone for a week a few weeks ago and was only taking 1, 50 mg of tram once a day and thought it probably wasn't helping much.

Day before yesterday I stopped and by 36 hours I was very uncomfortable and broke down and bought a couple percs. It's been about 24 hours now and I have since refilled a tram script I still had and I can it makes a difference.

I usually do about 40 mgs of hydrocodone a day. But the week prior to this I went nuts and did an average of about 70-80 mgs which also makes it harder.

I couldn't imagine full blown heroin W/D. I hope I never break down and try it when I wanting hydro and can't find it. I have a terrible fear of that. But for right now if I have the tram, and I feel I can maintain even though I still crave the hydrocodone. At least I don't feel much physical w/d with the tram.

these pills have 500mg apap. Its not the APAP that im scared of its the propoxyphene. My maximum dose of APAP at one time was 3g and in a 24hr period 5g. Im just scared of the conflicting stories on this site regarding propoxyphenes heart toxicity and its sodium channel blocking.
 
Okay, cool. So you know what you're doing with the APAP. Good. The Propoxyphene is fine at those amounts. Just try to relax. You're cool.
 
The problem is you are basically prolonging w/d. once it wheres off you are probably going to be back where you started. Did you say you had a script of TRams? you could goto that next and take it for a few days.

not necessarily. These opiates are so weak its like im tapering off the oxycodone. Darvocets are also a very crappy high so it leaves u with a sort of disgusted feeling towards opiates.
 
Best of luck, i hope that is the case for you. in my experience taking ANY opiates/oids when i was in withdrawal just prolonged the W/d. good luck man i hope you make it through!:) if you wake up and have one of these :( you will know why.

I find that trams allows you to taper easier because they're not enjoyable to me and there for I abuse them less.
