Almost always, but if they decide they need it during the op, you'd naturally expect them to do it anyway.

I've never needed anything during a colonoscopy, not even the nitrous. I always wondered what the big deal was as I literally can't feel anything at all, though it all looks very interesting on the camera scope as they go up the pipes lol.

You can request total anesthesia as opposed to twilight sleep. I do now, I watched the video game once, been there done that.
They give me IV Demerol with my doc. A couple procedures ago, the anesthesiologist must have hit it pretty quickly 'cause I got a bit of a rush. Nice reward for the rough night before. The last one, I was looking forward to the same and I just eventually noticed I was feeling it. Damn anesthesiologist put it in gradually like they are supposed to.
