Properly dosing on pure DXM powder

Okay so I have been searching and reading and i have come to conclusion that i need to just hear from my fellow BLers.

So I am receiving 10g of 96% DXM HBr in a few days. I am trying to gather different ideas of the best way to administer this powder. now my history with cough syrup goes a long ways. I absolutely cannot drink cough syrup. Even if i manage to gulp it down and wash it down without puking from the taste, my body will reject it in a half hour and i will definitely puke. and i only get a 1st or 2nd plateua IF that. I have huge tolerance. I normally have to dose about 3 bottles of Robitussin Cough Gels (900mg), and sometime two 4oz bottles of robitussin adult cough and a bottle of robitussin cough gels.

So i was thinking of weighing it and putting it into capsules but i am worried about it not dissolving properly. I will need PEG somehow. i dont know if taking cough gels with capsule will still work the same. I am wondering if i could get a bottle of robitussin cough and pour a dose into the plastic cup and pour the powder in there ad stir and just down that. I think i could handle that.

Also I normally eat a grapefruit or drink a bunch of grapefruit juice about an hour before i dose and ongoing while i am waiting for the onset. I am wondering if this will affect the DXM-PEG solution? any tips for DXM and PEG solutions would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks BL!
 
you should weigh it out and put it in capsules, as you have already stated.

It does take longer to kick in though, Vs just drinking the powder down (Yuck)
 
dissolving DXM in PEG will make a mess, if you do so then don't put it in gelatine capsules, keep it as a liquid solution.
 
True. I have heard quite some things about PEG but i should clarify that i mean by the source of cough medicine. I am thinking of just emptying a few robogels into a plastic dose cup and mixing the powder in that as described by this article written by William White.
 
Couldn't you just take 2 capsules of robitussin then consume the powder in the capsules or does the pure DXM powder have to be submerged/mixed with PEG?
 
scale, put in capsule, down the hatch,
just be careful with dxm,
its strange, and not in a pleasant way,
it can take you out there.
 
Would it work to dissolve the powder in a dose of Tussin Cough (DXM only) and drink that since it would be in solution? I tried DXM powder for 1st time last night using capsules. I took the capsules after about an hour and a half after eating a very light meal. I ate a couple Tums when i took the capsules in case of nausea.

With cough syrup my body will automatically reject it even if i keep it down after chugging. My body will not let the cough syrup stay in my stomach for longer than an hour. The last couple time did cough syrup i puked it up and got like a 1st plateua. My doses in cough syrup are around 900mg even if i havent done it in months. The cough gels make me puke also probably because of sorbitol or who knows what else. Plus my gag reflex doesnt get along with 40 gelcaps on top of cough syrup.

So after taking the capsules i felt it come up but i also felt like i was starting to get nauseous. had a trash bin just in case because i have heard of powder making people throw up also. I did end up puking but it wasnt very much and i got REALLY high right after i puked. As soon as i was done puking i got a huge rush and was just lost in DXM. After about an hour and a half i took another capsule and an hour later when i felt the second capsule come on i got nauseous again and i puked but mainly fry heaves at that point.I was also chewing tums before the second capsule. The tums didnt really help with puking. i will try some Dramamine possibly.

So i was wondering if the DXM would still make me puke if it was dissolved in a dose of cough syrup so it could just be absorbed. And i dont have money for Robitussin cough gels for PEG but i do have a bottle of Tussin cough but it does not contain PEG. Also idk how well it would go down swallowing the insides of the gelcaps with all that DXM added to it. :P

^ Try Diphenhydramine. I throw up every time I don't use Benadryl beforehand...it'd be worth a shot.

Also, don't use Tums with DXM as it is alkaline (tums will make the nausea worse). Take a shot of lemon juice or some other acidic beverage after dosing the DXM in order to keep the pH level in your stomach at a tolerable level.
 
Yes it is. DXM gives alot of people nausea. I am going to the store to get some Dramamine cuz i think it will work better for nausea. I dont get itchy from DXM so yeah. And i am getting some lemon juice also. Thanks for the advice everyone.
 
Will Dramamine Less Drowsy (meclizine) be as effective as dimenhydrinate? And will it cause any interactions? i have not used meclizine ever so i dont know how good it is at treating nausea cuz i sure trust dimenhydrinate just it makes me drowsy and i cant stand that anticholinergic droswy feeling.

Does anybody know if/or how I could turn my pure DXM HBr into freebase with ammonia and then to a citrate with lemon juice? I am wondering so i can see if DXM citrate would be easier on the stomach. my stomach cant handle things as well as it used to. The HBr powder is still a little hard on my stomach but the meclizine sure helps. also i have learned from the last week that ive been enjoying my DXM powder that it helps to not eat 6 hours before dosing otherwise puking for me is guaranteed.
 
How much PEG is needed for dosing pure DXM?
And is it actually necessary to fully utilize the material?
