Proper way to taper off clonidine

I am on the 0.2 clonidine patch. I will not be needing it in about 4 days. I don't have any tabs of clonidine or any patches lower than the 0.2.

my question is ----I have read that the proper way to get less meds to come out the patch is to cover some (half, a third, whatever the case may be) with tape or something on the sticky side. so if only half of the surface area of the patch is making contact with your skin, is it correct that only half of the medication will enter your system? or will all the medication still come out the half that is not covered?

can the patch be cut? it looks like the fentanyl mylan patch.

^You should be able to cut those without too much of a problem...those type of patches are distributed evenly enough throughout that I wouldn't sweat it...The old kind where there's like a "reservoir", for lack of a better term, I wouldn't tamper with those....The "polymer matrix" ones, you can do basically anything to them, within reason...

that's what I was thinking. but every clonidine informational website I've seen said not to cut the matrix type patches. but it just seems reasonable to be able to cut them. they are not the old gel type. so I don't see a problem with cutting them. maybe the manufactures just want people to buy the desired dosage rather than to concoct the dosage by cutting them. slick mofos.

It says on my suboxone strips not to cut them...and yet it says right on the bottle ordered by the doc, "Take 1/2 a strip once daily"

they make a ton more money making me have to buy 2-2mg strips as opposed to just cutting an 8mg in half...Obviously, there's some things you shouldn't tamper with, but in this case I'll be able to sleep tonight if you cut the clonidine patch in half! ;)

Even if worst case scenario you end up with .001 mgs more, BFD! It's not LSD we're talking about here! Although, fuck around with the wrong fentanyl patch and you could be in trouble! But those polymer matrix ones, unless you start trying to dick around with solvent extractions, they're pretty damn stable!
