Proper disposal of Hg salts and amalgamation procedure?

procedure is done with
5g of 1x1 aluminum foil
200ml dH2O
50mg Hg

after stiring and 15-20mins instructions say at the end of procedure to wash aluminum with water?
im not understanding if im supposed to save foil after reaction and wash out hg water and replace with clean water or what.

Sorry if this comes across as rude but seeing as this is a harm reduction forum it needs to be said - if you don't know proper disposal procedures for mercury then you shouldn't be handling the stuff at all, you could end up seriously fucking yourself up, or causing massive damage to your local environment. You don't just "wash out" mercury.

It's definitely synth-related, no way is anybody using mercury for purification. Just felt the need to point out that somebody who doesn't know what they're doing, messing around with mercury, is a serious danger not only to themselves but others living nearby, and the local environment.

In terms of disposal, there isn't really any environmentally safe way of disposing of it that doesn't get environmental protection/waste disposal agencies involved. And if you do that you'll need to think up a damned good excuse for having a bunch of mercury in that form, or some way of anonymising yourself. Again, I need to stress what you are considering doing is a very, very bad idea. The whole "harm your local environment" thing is not some sort of tree-hugging concern, we are talking about a serious health hazard for anybody living or even visiting anywhere near the disposal site. Please reconsider, and see if there's another way of doing whatever you're doing that doesn't involve the use of mercury.
