Anyone know what the most common name they use in Canada, for it's over the counter up here...................Here are the other names for Promethazine ( Phenergan, Promethegan, Romergan, Fargan, Farganesse, Prothiazine, Avomine, Atosil, Receptozine, Lergigan)...............Just need to know what to ask for.

Ask for some dextromoramide with it, the experience will be better.

edit: just kidding, this compound is an opiate, so don't ask for it or you will be kicked out of the pharmacy.

I agree with Neighborhood, pharmacists know about chemicals for a reason.

If otherwise, just say Phenergan, by far most common usage in southern US (never even heard of anything else), dunno about Canada...

Hence why you should just ask for promethazine.

Is it RX in Canada too? I personally think promethazine is one of the best sleep-inducing drugs out there, right up with the antipsychotics...certainly better then the benzos or ambien.

But of course anything with any sort of abuse potential has to be RX only...all the times I've taken promethazine it has just completely knocked me out.

It isn't RXed in a lot of countries. I personnally prefer benzos for sleeping. Promethazine does a good job at that but the morning groggyness is very unpleasant. But of course it has a much lower abuse potential than benzos.

right up with the antipsychotics

Promethazine was the beginning compound which led to the discovery of chlorpromazine (Thorazine), the first antipsychotic.

They had some at the drug store "Promethazine" That is and the girl looked at me funny at first, So i just said it's for my Hey Fever and to help me sleep sometimes. Funny how she sold them to me tho, she was selling them 5-for 2 dollars, felt like a street buy..........but i was in a real drug store doing it. And at the same time bought a bottle of acetaminophen and Codeine (Over The Counter too)......................Gotta love living in Canada sometimes :)

Read it's actions.
It does more than H1 antagonism.
Just because it has 1/10 of the dopamine blocking power of chlorpromazine, you cannot rule something out for what it truly is.

It's just not used clinically as a anti-psychotic because it is a very weak anti-psychotic.
