Which anit-histamine would be better for potinating opiods and anti-anxiety, promethazine or hydroxyzine? Im already prescribed hydroxyzine but I was wondering if I should ask my doc for promethazine instead. If theres a better anti-histamine for these purposes please let me know.

Promethazine is overall more useful, whilst hydrozine is more anxioloytic and when iv'd comes with a bit of a rush ala cyclizine. BUT shooting antihistamines is really really unhealthy and definetly not recommended.

Hey, here's my thread, it's back, in pog form, like Alf! 8)

But really we had that discussion and it became closed for I don't know what reason. These are the 2 best antihistamines to mix with opiates. Those are actual potentiators and not just agents that will cause synergy (benzos). Hydroxyzine with synthetics is just amazing. I only drank half my methadone takehome (60mg/2=30) with 150mg hydroxyzine (quite a hefty dose i'll admit, 3 x 50mg) and goddamn I have nodded. Yesterday I also achieved nodding with Orphenadrine over methadone, but even if it works, I didn't like how it made me feel this morning, so much that I only drank that takehome with the Atarax at noon. Orphenadrine always makes me feel VERY strange the next day after use, I just remembered now because I had happened to mix it with oxycodone a long while ago and the day after bad feelings/weirdness were just as apparent as with methadone.

Anyway, Promethazine 50mg by pharmascience, blue pills with PMS written on them = available OTC in canada, Orphenadrine 100mg pills are also available in generic form OTC and brand name on the shelves. If only Atarax didn't need a prescription and it would make everything easier for me.

And to answer OP : Hydroxyzine is scripted by itself for anxiety. Dunno if that is worth anything cos I'm on benzos since 2007.

But the very first time I went in to see a doctor about my insomnia in hmm...i think it was the winter of 2001, that year that psychologically destroyed my generation. The doc scripted me promethazine 50mg pills. Funny, he was really old and had a big white beard, stereotypical as all hell lol :) Probably why he scripted me something like that for sleep which 10 years later was remove from the market, Rx-wise at least.

Yeah OP, check out THE_REAL_OBLIVION's recent thread in BDD on the exact same topic.
Here it is: Hydroxyzine vs Promethazine

My conclusion is that hydroxyzine would be a better option as it is more effective and has fewer adverse side effects.

But really we had that discussion and it became closed for I don't know what reason.
Bronson clearly explained it when he closed your thread:

I think the answer to this has been covered well enough. At this point it's just turning into more random drug talk. This isn't really appropriate for a thread in BDD so I'm going to close it. PM any questions.

If you didn't understand that you could have just PM'd him. No need to make remarks in other threads about how you don't understand why it was closed :)

I much prefer hydroxyzine at 20-30mg/day due to its subjective lack of anti-cholinergenic effects and heavy anti-obsessive effects by being a 5-HT2C antagonist (fights OCD-related anxiety that might be interfering with ejoying my day, sober or opiated), since I really dislike the anticholinergenic effects of any drug, especially while opiated.

Promethazine is a great adunct to tramadol and codeine in regards to cough/pain therapy, due to its CYP2D6 inducing properties (allowing more of tramadol to be metabolized by the 2D6 enzymes in to the much more powe.rful O-Desmethyltramadol, and same with codeine->morphine via 2D6 O-Desmethylation), but it is simply far too anti-cholingergenic to use on a daily basis, it is simply far too sedating and cloudy at higher (>25mg/day) dosages, and even a typical anti-psychotic (!) at very high doses. It seems to me promethazine is an old outdated, heavy anticholinergenic that has a niche use as a 2D6 inducer for use with codeine/tramadol or as a potent anti-emetic, but even for anti-emetic use I would prefer meclizine.
