so i took 3 mg of xanax today at 3:00 pm and i had a 4oz bottle of promethazine/codeine but, i split the bottle so i have just a bit over 2oz left of the syrup should it be safe to swig the bottle even though i took the 3mg of xanax?

no, mixing xanax or any CNS depressant for that matter with another CNS depressant such as codeine is dangerous.
I know I sound like a parrot but I have had 2 over doses from mixing opiates and benzos so pleases, stay safe. If you decide to carry on with the mixture have someone with you or make sure to call 911 if your breathing slows to low levels.
