Promenthazine w/ codeine sore throat

Hi, i recently tried mixing qulaitest ptomenthazine with codeine syrup and sprite and it was okay. Mixed about 3 1/2 ounces. About 3 days later i proceded to make the same concoction thinking it would help with a very minor runny nose and relax me. About an hour after finishing the promenthazine i started to feel my throat getting really dry. I went home and went to sleep but that night my throat began to hurt horribly. I figured it had something to do with the promenthazine but after 2 days in pain and a doctors visit the doc said i have white puss on one side of my throat and diagnosed me with strep throat.

Is that just coincidence or do you think the dry throat from promenthazine played a part in my throat infection? Im very curious cuz i dont want to feel this again!

Well, at higher doses, promethazine has an anticholinergic effect which can cause dry mouth/throat. Whether or not this contributed to your infection or not is hard to say, can't do much about it other than speculating.
