ha, i'm riding my '05 Felt (european) BMX; i used to race and jump. i've got an old dunga 21sp MTB but the tyres are flat and the crank spits the chain off every now and then so i'm sticking to my BMX until i get a new Ute (Utility, you probably call it a truck).

half my ride is on a highway and the other half the main highway through town so it's more than accommodating in silky smoothness. i ride an average of 80km a week at the moment.

as for the lido patches, people have mentioned them to me before who have used them with some success. unfortunately i don't think they're available in australia. the majority of my pain at the moment is neurological and ketarolac and meloxicam have been helping out a little especially bringing sensation and feeling back into my right fingertips.

man, all this talk of cycling makes me want to get back into it again. i used to mountain bike 10-15 miles/day during the week and about 25-30 on saturdays when i was in undergrad. it was so much fun, and that wass probably the best i've felt physically in my life. unfortunately there are no mountains where i live now on the coast, but i still have my canondale, and i'm sure there are some kind of trails... you all may have inspired me to look further into this! as far as progress, i've been trying to avoid full agonists entirely lately, taking really low amounts of bupe (<.5mg/day) as necessary- def need to increase the healthier hobbies if i want to be successful

Got some common cold. Felt like I was going thru w/d this dinner time. So, I thought, screw this I'm off to bed.

Took a nap with the heating on under several thick blankets. Soon warmed back up. Really irritating when you've got cold spells because it makes you want to use again!

I used to ride BMX alot, too. Felt makes great bikes - I just can't believe you are riding 80 k a week on a BMX, damn. You gotta grab yourself a roadie for the long term, they work so much better for long distances (of course you know that) but if you find one you like, it will help so much for long-distance rides and keeping in shape/ eliminating pain.

Cuz I liked BMX so much and liked road so much I got a single speed roadie that is way burlier and is kinda like a big kid BMX, good for jumps, drops and rails, but still has 700c tires and can roll anything.

Isn't this thread specifically not for discussion of things like cycling..? Let's not get this closed already.

Just over a week since dosing suboxone, still doing good. Nothing really new to report though, no noticeable changes in how i feel today.

No, but it's about discussing things that help with your recovery/ make it more bearable to be on PM. And exercise has helped me more than anything else - specifically cycling because of the mental demands it makes of you, and the great low-impact aerobic workout it gives you.

Also, if leftwing is always cruising around on a BMX, I would be worried about his knees getting fried from riding 70km a week which could easily lead to pain/ discomfort which would really defeat the point of exercise, wouldn't it?

Anyways though, I'll keep it in mind that this is all about our individual recoveries, but be fair to me - cycling is something that seriously helped me, sounds like it is helping leftwing, and can be really beneficial.

Are you planning on tapering the kratom? staying on it indefinitely?

Mu makes some good points... it was tangentially related and only flirting with off-topic/social discussion. If that flirtation progress to intercourse however, then we'll have to intervene :D

Well, i haven't been jogging for the past 2 months after 4 times/week for two months before that, but it's fucking freezing and i'm not a member in any health club around. I miss the natural high i often got when i exceeded 3 km., and how it affected my mood throughout the whole day, since i usually did it in the morning. I'm also starting to feel some pain in my joints, and i have read about the Subs/joints pain combo and don't want to get into that. I have to say that weed is a godsend, makes me eat well, enjoy whatever i'm watching and have a good day in general. For some people, it gets them lazy and beyond the age of 30, they make it a very occasional treat. Fortunately, that didn't happen to me and i'm so grateful for that. After all, when i was 20 i used to smoke an average of 15 j's/day, and now i have really decreased my intake, but I do love the green herbs.
I hope everyone is doing and feeling well

In my opinion a BMX is easier to use for cycling than a multi speed road bike, when it comes down to it. A road bike will lead to a more intense work out because you're pretty much always petaling. With a BMX there is plenty of resting while you just cruise along after building up speed. Before winter i would ride my BMX a few miles a day, i switched to a road bike on day just to see and it was much more difficult to go as far as i normally did.

I plan on tapering eventually, though I've been told tapering the dose wont do much, mostly just bother with tapering the frequency. So eventually i will start taking kratom once/day, every other day, etc.

I personally feel that their is no "recreational frug abuse"

I think the ~80-85% of people in society who try drugs and alcohol and do not become addicts/alcoholics kind of disprove this. There are some people who quickly progress to problematic use but that doesn't mean recreational use does not exist... over 75% of people who dry drugs like coke and heroin even do not ever develop dependency.

I understand you wanted to share your story, but walls of text like that rarely get read around here... imagine you're not sober, that shit isn't easy to read!

I think you should certainly check out the darkside forum. The topics you're bringing up are a little more intense and beyond the realm of most of what is in this thread.

Once again, may i ask why you didn't use full agonists to ease the pain or even benzos, if i remember correctly? After all, "raising" your dose to 0.1 mg is not that much, at all. Was that your tapering plan for Bupes and you don't want to mess it up?

I used temazepam twice over the last 2 weeks. Just to get to sleep though.

The full agonists I was prescribed were not more analgesic than buprenorphine so I just kept using buprenorphine.

Need help from my OD friends.

First of all, I think this thread is a great idea. I believe it will really fill the void that's between TDS and OD. I wouldn't post this in TDS, I just don't feel comfortable posting there. OD is my home. I logged on today to post a new thread about my dilemma and I see this one. Almost like a sign. . .

Anyway, here's what I'm struggling with:

I've been using heroin for the past six months. IV is my usual route, and tar is my usual dope. I've been prescribed Suboxone for the past year and a half, since I've been using tar I've been able to get back on Suboxone. Before I started IV'ing heroin I was down to 3.5mg of Suboxone daily, now I've upped my dose to 8mg/day. Even on 8mg of Suboxone I still have intense cravings for dope, and I still use dope. It seems like I can't go more than 72-hours without using. It's weird because I can still feel the dope even on up to 8mg of Suboxone.

I've come to a juncture right now where it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to continue to see my doctor that prescribes Suboxone. I can't afford to see him (he's cash only, doesn't deal with insurance). I know that getting off Suboxone is a bad idea because either I won't be able to handle the w/d or I'll go directly to back to dope.

This is the plan I've come up with:

  • Leave my Suboxone doc
  • Start going to a methadone clinic
  • Stay on methadone for 2-4 months
  • Stop taking methadone and switch to a short acting full agonist to get away from methadone withdrawals
  • Go back to my Suboxone doc

Does this sound like a decent plan? I feel like methadone would be a better option for getting off dope than Suboxone at this point. Can anyone help me out?

probably a bad idea. Can't you get a referral to a doctor that works with low or no-income patients? I feel like that would work best.

Also, if you can't stop using when you are on suboxone, i doubt anything will help. Nothing anyone can say or do will get you to quit as long as YOU want to keep using.

I'd personally stop using Subutex when you're shooting up. Altogether. Just, stop. And go back to the gear if you cannot quit. Then, when your life turns to shit again, you'll want that Sub real bad enough to stop the heroin altogether. Got to be cruel to that addict mind to win.

^^^That, plus it seems that you're still enjoying playing with fire and your plan will only have short-lived results. Of course i hope i'm wrong and wish you all the best, but after years of addiction, with all the people you meet and with all the stories you hear, you finally get a slight sense of rationality in your head.

I'm a little confused here, you've been IV'ing heroin for 6 months but have been on Suboxone for a year plus?

Recovery is a not a simple task, but a combination of positive ones you are convinced deep down that you need them in your life at the moment. Other than that, you'll be circling viciously with no nearby exit.

Others on here with more experience can talk to you more about "real" recovery and how it's done. I'm only 4 months clean, and know well that the road ahead is still long, but it was my decision and that's why i want to keep thinking that it will finally take me to that "clean" place

Wish all the best

It is easier to hustle up $10/day for methadone then a lump sum for a doctor though

why are you getting off sub then going back on? I'm confused..

When a Sub pill can last for 4 days, with 2 mg's/day as a maintenance dose, they are not expensive, at all. Even with 4 mg's/day; that one last time i got H, i paid exactly for a 1 night high what i had paid a few days earlier for 20 Subutex 8mg's pills! This equation hit me a few days ago and my mind went DAMN!

A normal doc in NY for example should charge 100$ for that 1st visit, mine told me to leave 150$ "for the reception", probably when he knew i was a working man and look like i could afford it! Corrupt Witch Doc! Plus, the Subs keep getting cheaper, supply/demand of course is right on, and i remember their prices in 2007! Big pharma makes SO MUCH moolah, watch a documentary called "Big Bucks, Big Pharma" a straight forward, eye opener.

With all the above posts, why not get a bicycle myself, instead of that jogging, i'm getting older and my knees and joints are not as before. How much are average ones? i have no idea about what to google now. Amateur bicycles, dmx? like my 11-year old days! Waow, yes, and i could still use it to go to the super market, and cruises when the weather gets better.

2 mg here and stabilizing for a while, enjoying being back on Subutex , after a long, freaking month with Suboxone headaches. I remembered something while reading a report about a study done about Naloxone headaches, that last year, i also got 30 pills of Suboxone by someone's stupid mistake, anyways that's a different story, so i was still not introduced (through BL :) ) to snorting my Subs, and the S/L was always headache-less. I was still not enjoying the orange fuckers and still missing my Tex's, but life was good and i never complained for the last 2-3 weeks of my usage before getting the Roxane Subutex for the 1st time. All i have taken before were the Brand name R.B, who are and have been billionaires for quite some time.

That's it, i got my therapeutic writing dose out. I hope everyone is having a good evening. Remember, life has so much to offer, one just has to be receptive. I'm learning how to get a high from cooking and eating my meals, dinners usually. There are other things that should get me happy other than those few lines. Goodnight

I'm doing quite well, switched from using kratom to using hydrocodone and demerol, as well as subs when I can get them. I'm waiting for my insurance to go back into effect at the beginning of Feb. to start searching for a sub doctor. I've also stopped using cannabis and have seriously cut back on my alcohol intake over the last few months.

We're talking going from 3-4 beers a night to maybe 1 every other night. I'm also using less lorazepam, which was my absolute backup drug. So overall quite good.

Positive thread, by the way :)

I just got done tapering bupe and this is my 4th day of w/d and it seem's like a walk in the park. I am loving it no depression at all just the general flu feeling. I also jumped of quite a high dose (2mg) I am pretty sure it won't peak anymore. Anyway hooray for bupe!!!!!!!!
