This compound attempts to substitute the trishomocubane structure with adamantane.

It has already been made before so it is not a completely new idea:

However, it was being discussed as an antiviral and not explicitly as a DRI.

Is there any way in your opinion of knowing in advance if it is DRI or not?

This is not a brand new discovery and requires some backwards planning, but the carbazole bioisostere of desipramine (iminodibenzyl) is a selective DRI and not a NRI. Ultimately this work is believed to have accumulated in the discovery of rimcazole.

Kaiser & Zirkle claims the name of the compounds are 60-389a [23690-10-0] & 61-425 [23690-09-7].
