More Substance Than Semblance
Hi, I've come into a lot of leaf material from a friends recent harvest (the strain is misty). It's actually a fairly decent smoke, superior to the soap bar hash we have over here.

The thing is, I want to reduce its size somehow, I don't like having large bags of the stuff laying around, and it's beginning to dry.
My mate said he was going to make "cheese" from this stuff, but never got round to it. So I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to how I can turn the stuff into an easily stored product. (Hopefully improving its strength.

There's a variety of extraction techniques using butane, IPA, butter...

Do some quick research online to determine which fits your situation the best.

There's quite a few different methods. One of the best is the ice hash method. You add the trim to a bucket of ice cold water filled with ice and mix. Once the trichomes are cold and brittle, you mix it with a hand mixer or put it in a camping washing machine to agitate the plant material so the trichomes break off. This is then filtered off through a set of different grade screens, filtering off the plant matter and giving you different grades of hash as each screen catches different sized trichomes.

The screens can be quite expensive but are worth the investment. I would suggest getting Sprungbags (google them).

Alternatively you could make quick was iso hash. You soak the trim in very pure isopropanol (with virtually no water content such as electronics grade stuff) for 10-30 seconds and filter in a coffee filter to remove plant matter. The alcohol that comes off is then evaporated leaving you with a hash residue that you can scrape up and smoke in an oil rig.

There are other methods but that should get you started.

Thank you for your advice guys, I'm intrigued by this ice hash method and I'm now researching this online. I consider an investment to be worthwhile as I have a regular supply of leaf. I'm checking out sprung bags and screens now.
Thanks again.

Gentle boil in water with a stick of butter. Drain through a filter and place the water/butter mix in the fridge. Collected the solid green butter once cooled and use it to cook edibles. It does get smelly during the boil so have a discrete place.

I may try a small sample batch tomorrow using your technique; I've always been a big fan of cooking and eating cannabis. (Space cake would have pain-killing properties for me back in the day).

Can't believe it didn't occur to me do that....

Depends how close to the buds the trim was. If he is giving it away it's likely to be just the stuff he can't make any hash out of.

Might get you mildly stoned if you have low tolerance. 'Superior' to soapbar is not the best barometer mind you lol. =D

Haha yep, uk soapbar is godawful crap. He did say its good enough for hash, but the lucky bastard is spoilt rotten with the most beautiful bud u ever seen, so many crystals its "blinging"...made a space cake with half an oz btw and was not too shabby.
