Heroin Process Duration of Heroin into Morphine..

I was wondering how long it would take a normal dose of heroin that has been mixed into about 60 cc's of water to convert back into morphine.. (if it were just sitting in the spoon, or syringe.. sucked up through a cotton filter.)

I mixed up a shot that was more potent than necessary and decided to leave behind about half of the shot. I had mixed the shot into about 60 cc's of water, and now I have about 30 cc's of the solution left, sitting in the spoon right now.

I want to save the rest of the solution for about 6 hours so that I can do it in the morning. I would rather do this as opposed to doing the rest of the dope now.

I have heard the Heroin converts back to Morphine after sitting in water for a period of time. I was wondering how long that period of time is? How many hours until that solution isn't Heroin anymore and instead is Morphine?

A simplified version of my question.. "Is it realistic that in 6 hours; my '30 cc's of heroin- (mixed with water)- solution' will still be Heroin if kept in the spoon that I mixed it up in or in a syringe if kept at room temperature?"

I've had 30-40cc's mixed up but in a syringe that i've done hours later (3-4 hours, maybe once overnight) and not had a problem... I've heard that its not good to do this though... However I have no idea re: heroin into morphine question....

I don't know the exact amount of time, there haven't been too many studies on this, but from what I've read about it... it takes a very long time. A lot more than just a few hours.

Here is the abstract of a study done measuring the hydrolysis of heroin in a 24 hour period. Keep in mind these findings are based upon the specific conditions for this experiment. There are a lot of variables that could influence how fast or slow this happens but either way, it's going to take a while to even start degrading.

Abstract:

"Electron-capture gas-liquid chromatography was used to study the spontaneous hydrolysis of heroin in phosphate buffer (pH 6.4 and pH 7.4) at 23 degrees C. Aliquots of solution were taken over a 24-h period. After extraction at pH 8.9 into propan-2-ol (10)-ethyl acetate, deacetylated products were made into hepafluorobutyrate derivatives which were analyzed quantitatively using nalorphine as the internal standard. Heroin decomposes to 06-monoacetylmorphine (06-MAM) under these conditions. Further decomposition to morphine was not observed. Spontaneous hydrolysis was faster at pH 7.4 (first-order rate constant, 9.6 x 10-5 min-1) than at pH 6.4 (first-order rate constant, 3.0 x 10-5 min-1). In 24 h, the decomposition to 06-MAM was 13 and 4%, respectively."

This thread is old, but I thought I would add my experience for future bluelight answer-seekers.

I mixed about a point or two up and left it there for about 10 hours. I did it, and it was still just as potent as it was the night before.

So although there is a decrease in the drug after a amount of time, I have concluded that it would probably take at least 24 hours before this starts to happen, so saving shots for the morning is A-OK (besides contamination.. it still isn't a good idea for this reason.. but if you have to you have to.)

Hope this helps someone in the future! :)

^ please, for god's sake, if you didn't do it this time, use bacteriostatic water and refrigerate anything you do not plan to inject right away. Street drugs are already impure as shit and even good filtration will not make it sterile so basically when you prep drugs for injection and just leave them, you might as well be injecting a petri dish.

...and just because you were fine 'this time' or have done it many times, doesn't mean it's not more dangerous and simple precautions can reduce a lot of the potential harm.

This is not advisable but ill post my experience anyway. I have mixed up a shot of dope and left it in room temperature (70) for a few hours 2-3.. injected and didn't notice a difference. And I have had a syringe prepped withd ope and coke in the fridge over night so i didnt haev to waste time before work pl;enty of times.

The dope and coke is pretty solid around here..real clean. Dunno fi thatmakes a difference. I just use tap water.

Yes mate, you can leave it quite some time, it does not convert back easily, or quickly, unless you inject it, in which case, after it passes the blood brain barrier, it transforms back to morphine almost straight away! It only needs to be heroin to get it in to the brain, as heroin crosses the blood brain barrier very easily compared to morphine!

^right, but as Cane2theLeft mentioned earlier, you shouldn't shoot a shot that's been sitting around in a syringe for 24 hours unless using bacteriostatic water.

I thought it was just a basic rule of thumb that a heroin/h20 solution would revert back to morphine overnight, regardless of the h2o/heroin ratio???

Anyways, you wont notice much of a difference with your product since you are iv'ing....

You mostly feel he 6-mam when you shoot, and 6-mam's composition wont change overnight; however, it will probably degrade over time
