Copious amounts of water and sugar.
Or if it is severe (a week or two), allow oneself to enter mild WD, 'easing it up' is an understatement.

Prunes/prune juice (syrup of figs but personally would rather be crippled in constipated pain than that)
Dulcoease..stool softener-yum or dulcolax
Drink hot or warm water-lots
Colon massage-yep that is a real thing

In the future take regular Fybergel or Psyllium Husk capsules
Drink lots of water always
Roughage/fruit
Think about buying a juicer..there are some good juice recipes.

Good luck.

The longest I've had opiate-induced constipation has been 3 days, though it did fix itself in the end ..... Not fun trying to get anything to move. Natural senna is your friend :)

Changing témğge subject a little: Is it just me who also has problems with opiates and little business?

I suffer from paruresis anyway (Simon could never go in a urinal, with an audience; and in the bushes, forget that, not going to happen. E_NOTLOO, this is not a toilet. Aborting mission, segmentation fault.) but opiates just lock my bladder right up. There have been times when I've had to get up off the toilet and walk around for awhile because my bum was moulding itself to the seat .....

I always found sitting to pee helped it on its way quite considerably and actually still do whether it be opies or other drugs which have a blocking effect on widdling. I had a particular technique of what could politely be described as digital manipulation for assisting my ex with similar issues (more specifically, 'come hither, come hither'). Not sure how practical that is to do to oneself but I'm sure much fun could be had finding out.

This. The reversal of opi-constipation is one of the earliest w/d symptoms so shouldn't be a real problem.

er..... never been a problem this end.

What about at the other end?

Seems the long-promised, long-threatened EADD Shit Thread has materialised. There really has been an inordinate amount of shittalk of late so hopefully this thread will help a few folk to take a load off.

Line of pirate or something. If opiates stop you crapping (and I had this once on codeine), stims will have you shitting and wondering just how much shit one body can hold. =D

I don't even know why I'm reading this thread. Morbid fascination? Avoiding housework? Possibly.

The longest I went without a dump was when I was using loperamide to come off kratom, so painful, I hate the feeling of being bloated and not being able to empty my bowels.

On that occasion I told my mum I was constipated and being that she's into Ayurveda she gave me some super strenght Indian laxative, actually managed to make shit properly. The feeling afterwards was awesome, I guess only those slaves in Haiti felt something similar after they took their chains off them. Free at last.

Being constipated is horrible, all those toxins lingering around your body being re-absorbed, plus it could also be fatal as the colon could rupture releasing deadly bacteria in your body.

Apparently, if you go long enough without, you can actually start coughing up shit. So someone said on another forum.

Milk Of Magnesia. Depending how compacted things are it can take up to 3 nights of dosing to get things moving. But it is the number one remedy imo/ime. Does the job with the minimum of discomfort.

Before that i would be heaving and straining for hours, feeling like i was trying to pass a concrete breeze block, and the final result would be something like the size of a hazlenut. Fucking unbelievable.

I can't recall what it's called but it is a specific side-effect opies have - more or less all opies I can think of - and you get it whether using recreationally, habitually or just standard patient with a pain meds script whether acutely or chronically. There is a medical name for it if you ever read the leaflets that come with any opioid meds but I don't have any to hand right now to look it up. I imagine google would be our mutual friend if particularly interested in exactly what it's called and what opi-action specifically causes it. I'm not aware of any way of avoiding it completely but I'd say it's more of an irritation than a real problem - it tends to sort itself out a lot better than the constipating effect.

During the first couple of years of my heroin addiction I got chronically constipated regularly - at its worst I was walking bow legged for nearly 5 days - bisacodyl 10 mg suppositories got me shifting eventually - im going to get quite graphic here so please look away if you dont have the stomach for this sort of thing - when inserting them you need to try and get them as far past the blockage as is comfortably possible then try and resist the urge the go to the loo for 15 -20 minutes to give them a chance to melt - they have such an explosive effect on your bowel that they will want to fire themselves out before they have had the chance to fully melt and get absorbed into the lining of your colon. Disgustingly messy but they do work wonders. Plenty of hot baths and that either side of said procedure for hygiene and comfort purposes. They're available OTC as a pharmacy supervised product
