jesus christ I love this place

Not that you asked for my opinion or anything, but I think you should just cut your losses on this one and leave the thread. You've made a certified Grade-A ass out of yourself and contributed nothing of discernible value.

I find it amusing to remark upon the number and variety of bizarre New Age appropriations of the word 'quantum' to describe anything that seems beyond comprehension and/or experience, a usage which is, ironically enough, about as far as you could possibly get from both the literal meaning of the word and the body of scientific literature to which it refers.

Which was the point the point of my post. I was not even trying to be a dick or take anyone to task (not philosophically) I was just asking why "quantum" was being used to describe something which, while hard to describe, otherwise has no meaningful conceptual link to quantum mechanical phenomena. Why don't we start calling that stuff "turbulent"...turbulent flows are classical, but less well understood than most quantum interactions.

all I can say is that in order to actually see the underlying effects of nature you need to change yourself (the observer) in order to see it.

That is true, yet self evident to point of being meaningless. An observation of a physical system involves one physical system interacting with another physical system, thus changing the state of both physical systems. (Remember, each system is observing the other system, so the observer effect holds for both systems) There is nothing which can be meaningfully called an observation which does not follow that principle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observer_effect_(physics)

...I am now 100% sure that trees are concious at some level and that they can sense what we think!

I live in fairly cold Slovak Republic,I spend alot time in my home on second floor of panel house, theres alot huge trees around, many in front of the window of my room...

for decade and half, everytime I opened the only window of my room, there was this tree that was closest,I just look out of window at the world, just checking climate conditions, philosophy thinking, stalking people or when I used to smoke.... or when I listen music etc.... I was looking alot at this three for my whole life

I kinda came to love that tree over the years, seeing how it grow and then these bastard cut some of it and then I saw the regeneration.... most of the time I check how the leafs look,I am kind of emotional person that hangs on past,I just dont like when the full healthy green leaves turn into yellow and fall, probably becose it reminds me of my own mortality and unstopable aging

here is the thing, this three knows I am sad when I see the leafs falling,it knows I like to see them green becose its like a feeling I still have plenty time left, and what that three does,he delay the leaf fall as much as possible to make me happy

every single three, every single one I saw have completly all leafs fallen for good time now,but this three,in the area where I check the leaves,is going green like its middle of summer!!! no sign of these leaves falling any time soon, and its what 29.11.2012? basicly new year in month???

there literaly hundrets of three of this kind in this area and none of have have even one yellow leaf, the top of the three is leaf less becose I dont look at that part of the three often becose its very very tall.... I am big nature protector,I love the trees for their fruits, shade, oxygen and how the keep the earth wet and not like desert...

what do you think?

Yes. Keep tapping into that consciousness, and you'll feel it develop more and more.

And you'll be able to apply it to others too eventually.

If you could see auras you would see how the trees communicate with every living thing that comes into contact with them. They also form an energy network with other trees.

They are totally conscious and totally benevolent.

Actually, a lot of plants are quite violent to other plants, and employ a rather stunning array of mechanical and chemical tactics to out-compete other plants for sunlight exposure, water, and soil space. The dynamics of a forest can be modeled as a very, very slow-moving war. Animals' major advantage over plants is that they can move and respond to stimuli orders of magnitude faster. Plants aren't so much benevolent to animals as they are... coping. They do their best to cope in a world full of not-so-benevolent living things with powers beyond their comprehension, and if you ask me, do a pretty decent job of it!

OP, to me the value that trees have always taught me is endurance. They hang on tough and proud, and make slow progress, despite being entirely vulnerable to the whims of us fast-moving, city-building, resource-hogging sentient creatures. I'm reminded of the title "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". This symbolism is also central to the famous children's book "The Giving Tree", where the staunch and patient endurance of a tree symbolizes that of an overburdened but loving mother.

I think there is much of value to be gained by learning to appreciate trees and how they make their way in this world. I know I could never live in a place devoid of trees.

Indeed, yet flowering cherry trees (well, technically their blossoms) are symbols of transience. I am reminded of something I once said. The beauty of youth is in the burning transience of cherry blossoms, while the beauty of the mature lies in the constancy of the pine.

No no no. The trees comunicate through their roots and there is 10 to the power of 20 connections between a tree to those around it and 10 to the power of 40 trees on pandora...

I am sure they are conscious. I talk to the trees - and I have very simplistic conversations with them - I have to put my head against them and close my eyes and they tell me with colours, what I ask of them. I usually ask in terms of green or red.

I think they do have feelings. But on a very vague, unconscious level compared to us. Like a young, healthy tree will be "happy", or give off a more positive vibe. While an old, sick tree or forest will be more gloomy or feel depressing to look at. You could also say having more or less light/darkness in it. It's a subtle feeling but something you can train yourself to feel. One of the most subtle things in life has to be the inner life of plants.

One philosopher said even stones have some kind of emotions, or feel a sense of pleasure when they're broken into pieces. I guess he means it's the start of another kind of existence of consciousness for them in some way.

The fact that people doing drugs are able to pick up on things like this is also saying something. It's sort of a psychedelic thing, right? You shouldn't really feel so proud of what you're able to perceive by using psychedlic drugs, though, as it's not really your achievement.

I notice a lot of people on this board are very intuitive or spot-on in their ideas, and it can be very hard to win arguments inbetween us as they have much truth in them, that is also sort of a psychedelic trick. Someone never having done anything like that might never have had access to those perceptions so they won't be able to argue as effectively. It can give you access to secrets of the Universe that others don't have, in one sense. Including just about everything.

Also why spring/summer feels much happier and cheers you up more than autumn/winter.
