Pro-legalisation thread-killer?

It's standard procedure that on mothers days at the restaurant I work at, alot of the staff have lines to get through the brutal 14hour shift which that day brings.

Only one month away now. Busiest day at work by far.
Fortunately... My boss's whip brings all the staff to the yard and they're like, we'll work really hard.

Either option is better than the computer monitor fatique test that some mines employ at the start of the shift. It involves a worker having to track a moving shape across a monitor with the theory that impared workers will struggle. Unfortunately I know several people who are not morning people and fail it everyday they start simple due to it being stupid.

Sounds like they failed it because they were too uncoordinated to pass it. Being really hungover can do that, for example ("not morning people"??!!). You blow 0.00 but you're reflexes and cognition are still way down. Another reason why drug testing at work is crap - you can be clean but still too impaired to work.

The other complication with drug testing is that some people are prescribed meds that might lead them to fail a drug test, but does not impair their performance.

Obviously drug use can affect your work performance - but I still say drug testing is a bad way to manage that. Better to have explicit policy, with a non-punitive system for managing breaches.

^^^^ how odd that this type of thing is advocated in the workplace.

only in the hospitality industry! 8)

Useing meth was tollarated somewhat during holiday seasons when I worked in hospitality

At mine it's not regular, just for the busy days.

Although some of the cleaners are known to get stoned every sunday shift :P

One time one of my work mates had some pills and whip too and just chilled at the restaurant on his day off, now THAT was funny.. but also a story for a different thread. Lets get back on topic... which was what again?
