I very much prefer the original.Coming to a coffee shop in a college town near you. Not horrible, but not even close.
weak vocals and acoustic doesn't have the power of the Blue Oyster Cult original. Not even close.
Ok fair enough, but the one classic rock song that is great but done better( off the top of my tired head) is Bob Seger's live version of CCR's classic, Fortunate Son. Love the original; but Bob Seger's version is truly better, and he did it live.I very much prefer the original.
BUT, I was surprised at how well this oddly different take works. Like those bluegrass renditions of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd-- bizarre but surprisingly listenable.
I will check that out.John Fogerty is great, but not Bob Seger great.
I don't like the Beatles, but Joe Cocker is good, but I never bought any of his albums, back in the good old days, when they actually sold albums ( records, tapes and cd's, 8 tracks don't count)I will check that out.
Also, Joe Cocker's covers of The Beatles are all better than the originals-- and I'm a big fan of The Beatles.
I do indeed remember, and while I like both versions, Hendrix took it to new levels.Remember that the original was Dylan, not Hendrix
Me too.I miss record stores....
They gone over there, even no 2-nd hand shops. They are still here and vinyl booming,Me too.
I also miss album covers. Many albums from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and even into the 90s had artwork and/or photography that was as great as the music. We used to use them as posters on our walls.
Of course, albums cost $5 (also the cost of a concert in the 70s), but it was worth it because you could listen to it while studying the album cover tripping on a hit of acid that cost one dollar.
And you needed a double album cover to clean your pot.Me too.

Then there was the pills. I am well into my 40's( age not malt liquor, anymore)Me too.

I hesitate to say the Cocker versions were better because I do like the Beatles very much. The Beatles version of A Little Help From My Friends was excellent. But , at the same time, wow do I like Cocker's covers! It's a very very different song done by him. Great soul singerI will check that out.

I don't know many Beatles songs but Joe Cockers version of, Come Together, is better IMO. First I like Joe Cocker's soul full voice better. Then I would also say the instrumentals are better IMO.I will check that out.
