Primo Covers v. Better Than The Original

Coming to a coffee shop in a college town near you. Not horrible, but not even close.
weak vocals and acoustic doesn't have the power of the Blue Oyster Cult original. Not even close.
I very much prefer the original.

BUT, I was surprised at how well this oddly different take works. Like those bluegrass renditions of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd-- bizarre but surprisingly listenable.

Ok fair enough, but the one classic rock song that is great but done better( off the top of my tired head) is Bob Seger's live version of CCR's classic, Fortunate Son. Love the original; but Bob Seger's version is truly better, and he did it live.
I usually don't like live songs, but John Fogerty can't match Bob Seger.
John Fogerty is great, but not Bob Seger great.

I will check that out.
Also, Joe Cocker's covers of The Beatles are all better than the originals-- and I'm a big fan of The Beatles.
I don't like the Beatles, but Joe Cocker is good, but I never bought any of his albums, back in the good old days, when they actually sold albums ( records, tapes and cd's, 8 tracks don't count)
I miss record stores, stupidity and greed helped kill music from ever being what it was. But YouTube is free, and I have plenty of cd's somewhere. Lol

Remember that the original was Dylan, not Hendrix
I do indeed remember, and while I like both versions, Hendrix took it to new levels.
Hell, new galaxies.

Here's an article (with music) about Joe's covers of The Beatles-- who also very much appreciated his versions.

I miss record stores....
Me too.
I also miss album covers. Many albums from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and even into the 90s had artwork and/or photography that was as great as the music. We used to use them as posters on our walls.
Of course, albums cost $5 (also the cost of a concert in the 70s), but it was worth it because you could listen to it while studying the album cover tripping on a hit of acid that cost one dollar.

They gone over there, even no 2-nd hand shops. They are still here and vinyl booming,
sur passed cd's easy. A long time ago [years].

To bad also pricewise, records being at least 2 times as much as they used to be.
But when owning good stereo aquipment a good deal, anolog vs digital.
Moving forward instead of backwards. finally. Oh my set up is still missing.

It will get there !

And you needed a double album cover to clean your pot.
Damn, dude. I always had to pay 2$ a hit for acid.

At least these days we had reliable, some improvements of incredibly cheap precisely dosed analogues. Of LSD.

For as long as it lasts. price discussion not allowed, but back then 1 UK pound [no sign in the emoticon list ?]
Was about 4 Florijnen [guilders] so 4 [no emoticon either], Euros.
We were kinda mislead that 1 euro would equal 2. 2 guilder. A plain lie to the people. It was not.
Just 1=1 from the moment of introduction the pOlItIcIaNs said lets introduce the euro.

But the price of a RC blotter now way less then a pound then or 4 Euro.
Way less the a dollar to but no clu what its woth atm.

Your not Brits it seems so RC them, cheap as ... while it still is legal in the US.

Then there was the pills. I am well into my 40's( age not malt liquor, anymore)
Quaaludes, black beauties, ect... and easy to get.

The artwork from LPS was great, they have sold more vinyl than cd's for 2 years now. It is making a small comeback, but expensive, usually.
Also, singles, so you didn't have to buy a whole album to get one song you liked.

However, back then the musicians would actually try to write great albums you could listen too all of one side and flip it over and listen to the whole other side.

Then it became just write one, maybe two good songs and and throw together another 8 or so songs to fill up time; to call it an album.

Besides I like having a real material albums, not digital albums stored on an electronic device. I want real material albums. I hate what they did to music.

It was fun going to record stores and even going through the bargin bins full of cheap tapes at K Mart, Wal-Mart ect..
And yes music had been going downhill for a very long time.

I hesitate to say the Cocker versions were better because I do like the Beatles very much. The Beatles version of A Little Help From My Friends was excellent. But , at the same time, wow do I like Cocker's covers! It's a very very different song done by him. Great soul singer

I don't know many Beatles songs but Joe Cockers version of, Come Together, is better IMO. First I like Joe Cocker's soul full voice better. Then I would also say the instrumentals are better IMO.
