hey everybody, if i were to take some stool softeners before dosing my opiates and maybe 1 after i dose would it help to cause the huge ass-tearing stool to stay soft? my problem is that even when i dose my opiates i feel the need to eat something afterwards because im into the fitness stuff and keeping muscles fed and shit like that. and also some good tasting food while getting high seriously increases the euphoria to me for some damn reason. but im not digging the anal tears that are happening from the literal ball of shit. any info?

I got no idea other than the standard tips: drink A LOT of water, eat lots of fiber, take lots of stool softeners and importantly--take them regularly every day while you need to. They work best when taken regularly, not just wen u really r constipated...

But I'd love to know a magic cure too: shit just a few days ago I had to take a crap so bad I couldn't wait and used a public bathroom----well my shit was soo big and hard it wouldn't flush, I mean this turd wouldn't even bend, break or budge...b/c there was no plunger around and I couldn't just leave it there (it was actually the bathroom at my mmt clinic) I ended up having to take an expired credit card from my wallet and using it to chop up the turd so it would flush...

At that point, there was a layer of diarhea ontop of the huge turd, and I kid you not, when I first stuck the card into the turd, I thought I was touching a rock or some part of the porcelin----thats how hard it was. I couldn't see the card hit b/c of the top layer, and when I felt the resistance my first thought was pure panic b/c I genuinely thought I had somehow shit out a real rock.

Sorry for the vividness, but this was beyond aweful, so if neone has a real long term fix, plEase advise

Hey I hope this helps you all. I worked in Ortho/trauma for many years needless to say we had a lot of patients on pain meds which causes constipation. The doctors always advised our patients to get a bottle of mag citrate drink 1/2 if in 30 mins you haven't gone to the restroom drink the rest. . You can find it at most any grocery store or pharmacy. No prescription needed. Not expensive at all. Also stool softeners taking regularly may help, and or Metamucil taken daily. As always you should check with your on physician on what's right for you. Before starting any new med! XoxoMaryJane

Great idea, if you can tolerate it. She' s right about only using half. That stuff' s too harsh for me, so I drink extracted fruit shakes and take Miralax when the need arises. No problems here :D.

my problem isn't not being able to take a shit, my problem is the fact that the shit is so hard like walterdini was saying and the fact that it forms into a shape that can't fit and literally tears my ass to where it bleeds a little bit when it comes out

OMG, i spit water all over my keyboard from your post and then laughed for 5 minutes. I know exactly what your talking about as i have had the same type of turds also.
The worst ones are the ones that are like twice the size of your asshole and hard as rocks that come out 12 inches long

Colace helps keep your shit from becoming rock hard

the stool softeners (docusate sodium) will definitely help you with this, you need to drink lots of water too for best effect (they soften the stool by helping it to retain water). using PEG (aka MiraLAX) can also help by "lubricating" the GI tract and helping the stool move along. in the case of opiate induced constipation, you want to avoid stimulant laxatives (bisacodyl). you can always get an enema kit at the drug store in case of a real emergency. stick to this advice and you'll be fine.

note note note: using the recommended dosages of these products is just fine. you don't need to take heroic dosages to get the job done. you WILL end up with massive diarrhea if you over-do it with these products (especially PEG) regardless of how much dope you are doing!!

Oh my im sorry but thank u for the best laugh ive had all week. The visual of you chopping up a turd with a credit card is hilarious. Dont mean to laugh at your pain, but....LMAO....
Methadone is bad for that tho--i can remember being on it and having to manually remove a giant ball....

sadly I am an expert at this.
I recommend stool softeners (docusate sodium) take 300mg at night, and also take fiber supplements. If you still need help eat prunes, or drink their juice.
Enemas really help the bad cases.

Is there no loperamide like anatgonist? I can see a big market for such a medication , probably selling as combination products. I had oxycodone/naloxone once and the doctor told me that the nalaoxone is in there to antagonise mu receptors in the digestive track.

sure, there are substances like methylnaltrexone, but you don't generally see these on the street.

Let's try to be mature about this, as funny as it may seem, this is a very serious issue that left untreated can lead to life threatening conditions such as narcotic bowel syndrome, partial or complete intestinal blockage/obstruction, etc. If you think opioid induced constipation is bad, do not wait for it to progress into something much MUCH worse.

There's this drug called methylnaltrexone which is basically a specialized kind of opioid antagonist, but I have NEVER heard of anyone getting it prescribed, and I'm sure it has some side effects, if it's anything even remotely like naltrexone, but I won't waste any more time speculating.

Some laxatives are better than others, although everyone's body will react differently due to unique body chemistry. A lot of people like Sennakot, some people swear by docusate sodium (Colace), drinking warm prune juice, various forms of magnesium, god forbid you require PEG, and enemas aren't exactly known for being fun.

Unfortunately, some people have to resort to combining various of the aforementioned treatment options, although it is EXTREMELY important to consult your physician prior to selecting a laxative, especially if you believe your constipation is a result of drug abuse. Laxatives, especially the stimulant laxatives, are pretty serious drugs that can have profound consequences when misused and many laxatives are habit-forming or cause rebound constipation upon discontinuation after regular use.

Regular use of laxatives is definitely not something to consider lightly. It's something that sometimes must be done, usually by Chronic Pain Patients under the supervision of their prescribing healthcare professional, due to the constipating nature of certain medications, most infamous being the opioid analgesics. I definitely would advise the OP to contact their doctor prior to commencing regular use of laxatives, there are things you need to know about how each laxative will react in your body, and the effect they may have on the digestion / absorption of nutrients.

Every day, I take coconut oil capsules, peppermint oil capsules (which also contain Ginger and Fennel oils), magnesium supplements, (not just for constipation though, Mg has a wide range of therapeutic values) in combination with a strictly regulated dietary intake and increased hydration and physical exercise. Albeit controversial, I also rely heavily on high-dose high-potency cannabinoids daily to help regulate my GI health, and promote bowel movements and reduce some pain, cramping, spasms, and bloating (I have chronic GI conditions).

When it gets worse, I will add in warm prune juice and 100mg docusate sodium per day until I have a bowel movement. When in combination with my daily peppermint oil, coconut oil, magnesium, extra water, strict food intake, increased physical exertion in the abdominal area (I prefer sex for this, doggystyle works your core very well), and I STILL CANT GO TO THE BATHROOM, then I'll give myself a micro-enema using 10mL syringes, you can mix warm water with coconut oil and PEG. I usually start by
- plugging 10mL of raw coconut oil at anywhere between 75-100 degrees Fahrenheit, then
- plugging 10mL PEG/H20, and
- finishing with 10mL more of warm water, to ensure the above coconut oil, water/PEG gets up into your bowels.

Don't expel the enema right away, it needs a little bit of time to do it's work, but like I said earlier, consult your doctor.

I try to eat a lot of olives, tomatoes and fruit (more than 2-3 pieces a day) and I go to the bathroom before dosing , does that makes sense? Works for me anyway.

Just remember OP and everyone talk with your doctor first to see what treatment is right for you. Please do not ever go out to a local pharmacy and buy a laxative and think I'll take a few extra because you will be in some serious pain. tricomb is absolutely correct this is a serious issue and can very well lead to blockages and etc. and can be a life threatening issue. Taking preventive measures now to go regulated will save you from a lot of pain and doctor visits down the road. And you will even feel a whole lot better. The one thing thing I want to add to my other post reguarding the mag citrate when we prescribed to our patients was that it was not a daily medicine it was just to get them started and some relief so that they could then start on a treatment plan to help them keep regulated. Most of my trauma/Ortho patients weren't able to get up and move around much also for awhile being immobile also adds to it. So if possible try to walk around and keep active. I'm telling you do yourself a favor and get on a treatment that works for you, you will be glad you did. No need for you to have to live with this it can be easily fixed!

I had overused oxy one time and the poo would not come out. I had to use a rubber glove and dig it out. Sorry to be gross but it happens. For years, I've had IBS so bowel movements were never a problem. Most important is keeping yourself hydrated with loads of water. Eat lots of salads and veggies. Colace works but you don't want to depend on pills. Someone else mentioned the magnesium drink which is a sure bet. I've had to drink it before a colonoscopy and it cleans you out.

Buy some lactulose solution. I had it prescribed when I had a similar but more severe problem from loperamide. It softens the stool and let's you evacuate everything. It's a nice sugary tasting syrup. The good thing about it also it feels very natural, unlike stimulant laxatives and doesn't force you to evacuate more than once per dose. If you have more severe constipate, take castor oil but I don't think your situation warrants that.

yuck, man. i'm sure one of the (poor) janitors would have taken care of it. i've had this happen at home and i took to the hardened football size shit with a wire coat hanger lol.

God this is hilarious! There should be a thread: The lighter side of opiate use. Seriously.

Advice: Use Miralax (PEG 3350, there are generics), but take the first dose like the morning before you take your opiates, and take a daily dose until the "threat" has passed and your bowels are working normally. This will prevent it from happening. If it's too late, I've had success with liquid glycerin suppositories. This inserts a compound that draws water to your intestine, which will eventually soften up your stool. But you must keep it in you and allow it to drain back into your intestine. It often makes me "spasm" shitting out the liquid. You want to avoid this or minimize it by holding your body in one of the positions on the package. If your stool is as big and hard as some have described, it could take several hours to soften. You should pay attention to your bowel movements, and using the above methods to "nip it in the bud".

Yeah I coulda just let a janitor take care of it but it didn't feel right to make someone else deal with that......

I have been thinking about getting a colonic to help remove all the backed up, caked up feces that must be lining my colon, would that help prevent future constipation if I started a regimen like the ones outlined above after it?

I know it must be bad in there b/c I've tried plugging (dope and oxy) a good dozen times and have never gotten amything but minimal effects at doses that would"ve gotten me high via other ROA's. And that was even after plugging a few mins after an enama induced shit.....

So is it possible that the constipation I get from the mmt is magnified by the fact that I have very old and dry fecal matter lining my colon? Could that stuff be acting like a sponge--drying out my already dry shit? And if so, then would removing that older stuff with a colonic help me somewhat?
