Pretentious words battle

'Hoover' really means all that?

Like a MUG I thought it was just a popular brand of vacuum cleaner, the surname of the 31st president of the USA and a dam.
I do alot of pat testing and I should really log it as a vacuum cleaner but hoover is easier to write

And if one of your roles was to name US presidents or dams, what then?

Anyway...

Well believe it or not I have a fancy looking cheque from a certain president, I forget his name for installing a 3 phase mcb for a hotel oven ,I believe it was close to a tennis court or golf course but can't remember

Glister - it seems only JRR Tolkein uses this portmanteau of 'glimmer' and 'glitter'. But I don't think you need to be told, like Joyce, the portmanteu is self-explanatory.

But yeah, Glimmer is a nice word.

I can't think of a role where i might find myself in that situation other than maybe a game show but I would probably write them all down on my hand ,it's a system that's always worked in the past for assessments etc ,some may call it cheating but I think of it as a helping hand
