Pressing dry sifted hash

Does anyone have experience with working with this?

I have about 3g of 70u sifted trichs and was wondering how to go about pressing it into shapes without the use of a vice/pollen pressing device?
 
My suggestion would be to vape it if you can. Purely because you get so much more.

If you are intent on making discs of hash use a metal pen body & a pencil to compress it. It works surprisingly well but you could apply the same principal using other tools. If you have a vice get some large washers & small sheets of metal. Make a sandwich of metal, washer (pack hash inside) & metal. Place in the vice for an hour & viola.
 
I don't have a vape or that's what I'd do :(

I've tried with one of these (that basically has shapes you can screw onto it):

but there is no stickyness to it and it just crumbles as soon as you try to move it. I've thought about adding a little BHO to make it pliable (I think it's called jelly hash?)
 
Have you tried adding a tiny amount of heat? Heating the mix in the oven for 10 minutes at 150-200F. THC wont start to vape until about 360F. I also read that you can put a ball of the 'powder' wrapped in some saran wrap in your shoes so you walk on it all day. Heat + pressure that way.

You can also just keep the hash in 'powder' form in one of those tiny little plastic hash jars.
 
What are you going to do once you've pressed it? Smoke it?
I wouldn't bother pressing it if this is your aim, no point.
 
Thanks bennyZA, the heating helped it stick together :) I now have 4 1/2 inch star shaped chunks of hash.

Hippzillah - There's no way I'd be able to smoke 3g of has to myself any time soon. 1/2 of it is for friends. Pressing (and shaping) is an easy way to tell one batch from another when I have more than one.

Put kief into hand and press until it sticks together into a rough oblong shape. This will take just a few minutes.

Wrap into grease proof paper as a small parcel and tape together.

Put into bottom of your shoe and go for a walk. After about an hour you should have nicely pressed hash.

I used a EchoTherm HP50 to preheat the shaped mold to 90C and added .75g of the sifted material leaving for ~10 minutes to warm through before taking the mold and attaching it to the hand press and applying pressure for about 30 seconds. The chunks came out of the mold without much effort and didn't stick. I then wrapped them in clear cellophane and stored them in the freezer.

I had a small tip of one of the star arms an hour ago, flattened and put in my pipe. Full melt and one of the best highs I've had (that wasn't oil).
 
I don't know, one of the better quality street varieties.

In Aus it's kind of rare to have a choice of strain unless you grow your own, or know someone who does. But that's a plan for the future =D
 
It is ridiculous in Australia as my concern is running out of bud not what strain I can choose from. Luckily I always get nice bud but what a dream existence to be able to stroll into a store & but an assorted 1/2 O ever couple of weeks :).
 
It is pretty awesome. I'm so spoiled sometimes I wont smoke certain strains. Chocolate Thai, for example, is just too intense. On the other end, blackberry kush just knocks me the fuck out so I can't smoke it before 8pm. The other awesome thing is all the other products. The tinctures, the pills and capsules, lollipops, lotions, bath salts, etc. Smoking in the clubs is pretty awesome too. Just get to chill with other chill people, smoking the volcano. I think I know what I'm doing in a few hours. %)
 
I must say, it is pretty dire in oz when it comes to weed choices. Kind of strange when you think about how many people smoke it. You just gotta grow your own, so much better and cheaper than what you can buy...when you do you'll never look back!
 
^That is exactly what I am thinking but I want to wait until I buy somewhere & one of the essentials will be making sure I can have a permanent indoor garden. That way I can make hash which I would prefer from a storage & smell perspective. The fact that it is more flavourful & potent is a plus & I would always keep some bud on hand. I would like to be in a position where I can rotate strains at will & experiment more with cooking.
 
yah know... i use a volcano to vape with. i still smoke bowls and joints every so often (never blunts, cant handle the tobacco)

i had quite a bit of keif for a while... i was sticking only to the volcano at the time, and i typically only use my keif for combustion smoking. i never could figure out the best way to use the stuff. especially in the volcano.

what i mostly did with it was take big pinches of it with my thumb and index fingers and roll the dry keif into little balls, trying to get them as compact as possible. then either put them on a bowl or in a joint or something. i usually just used the powder for joints tho.

but even with compacting it down into those balls, i never got much out of pressed keif when trying to use it in my volcano.

one time i even tried putting one of those wafers, made with a keif press i have that makes them into round wafers, into the volcano. it just ended up being a hassle, it was too big and just shot right out when i tried to turn it on. ive tried taking the wafers and breaking them into smaller pieces and vape'n them... didnt seem to work either.

for now i just use my dry keif on bowls here and there. anyone have a good way to use it in the volcano? hell id make budder or hash if i was more resourceful.
