Hi BL :)

I have a few questions regarding prescriptions

First of all I have had back pain for years (injured my back bodyboarding, and also worked as a trolley boy after injury which only made it worse). I had also been diagnosed with mild scoliosis before this. Several years later and I have to crack my back every 2 mins or so, it is in constant pain and I fucking hate it. It hurts when i sit at computers writing reports for uni, when i try surf (which i do rarely now) and when i sleep.

Secondly I started doing drugs maybe a year and a half ago (not including weed which i smoked in high school). Eventually this led to me binging on meth and having a "heart attack" which i have no fucking idea what it really was, but i thought my heart had stopped and ended up running a few km's to the doc, who said my heart is going 190bpm and have me some valium. Anyways since then I have had panic attacks, that even come from drinking too much coffee, so basically i cut out all stimulants (which led me to oxy).

Now i have been prescribed xanax for the past 6 months, i rarely get panic attacks anymore (maybe 1 per 2 weeks), so use the rest of the xanax recreationally (with oxy or a few drinks). Now i have fuck all money so rarely can afford oxy, but it does wonders for my back pain (as well as getting me high). Also i have tried to get scripted oxy but all i got was codeine (why don't we have hydros here???) which was shit compard to the oc's.

My doc wont give me oc's, and If I was my doctor I probably wouldn't either as I seem like the typical drug seeker. But anyways, I want to know if I try to go to a different doc would they be able to;
1. know my past history? like see reports of my past drug use?
2. see that i am currently prescribed xanax?
3. do docs even prescribe oc's on first visit? i cannot waste money to go see a new doc and get codeine
4. i hear there is some stigma about prescribing benzos, but he gave me xanax the first visit i told him i was getting panic attacks, are oxys harder to get in general? or just this doc (he doesn't know i use them, probably suspects it though)

I understand that drugs are not a proper solution to pain, so have been saving up to see a chiro/physio when the uni sem is over. Thanks for any replies, and thanks for being an awesome forum, lots of helpful info here :)
(also sorry for bad spelling/grammar, xanax and a few beers to help me unwind from 8 hours of study today 8o)

If you are a university student you should be able to get cheap treatment through the physio/chiro school connected to your university. It isn't free but usually costs a token amount, probably what you spend on a few beers on any weekend.

We can't tell you how to acquire drugs, this includes prescription meds and doctor shopping. As Busty suggested your best bet will be trying to find an affordable physio. You need to attempt to have the underlying back problem identified and treated rather than just masking the pain.

To be more specific in regards to your questions:

1) No, unless they're working in the same practice,
2) This one's a bit trickier, Mr Blonde might be able to clarify but you need to look into whether an authority script is required, whether the meds are covered under the PBS etc,
3) Pretty unlikely without knowing your medical history, what you're already prescribed and tolerances, and cause of pain,
4) We can't answer this one. If you walk in to see a GP and ask for either straight up you'll most likely be sent on your merry way with empty hands as a drug-seeker.

Regarding question 2: Depends if you are getting those scripts covered under Medicare, and if the script you want to get will be covered as an authority script. If it is an authority and the doctor has to ring up to get a phone approval number, at that time he can ask what previous prescriptions you have had under Medicare.

Also, depending on what state you are in the Health Department's Drugs of Dependence Unit may have records of your benzodiazepine scripts on file. They won't intervene unless you are clearly doctor shopping, and in QLD they don't monitor benzodiazepine scripts.

As belarki said, you are fairly unlikely to get a script for oxycodone on your first visit to a GP. There is a lot of stigma associated with these drugs, and GPs who value their prescriber numbers will be careful about their prescription habits.

Thanks for the replys :)

The xanax was authority under medicare, but yeah I don't think I will waste any more money persueing this from your advice. Thanks busty I will check out my uni services. Probably best to use them oc's sparingly anyways heh.
