Benzos Prescription resistant anxiety?

Hello I'm here because I have anxiety that seems to be worsened by ssri and snri. Benzodiazepine is the only thing that helps but no one will diagnose them. Even kava barely touches any of it. It completely has ruined my life and males me so sick I am in the er regularly due to vomiting from gastroenterologist diagnosed "chronic inflammation of the stomach with no known cause" therapy makes me more anxious. Please please help me. My psychs nurse has suggested ect but I am losing my memory already and have jaw pain nausea and confusion at age 28 even meditation terrifies me after I induced sleep paralysis and a hellish lucid dream that seemed to be a premonition. I need help. I can't go away. I have to raise children that no one else can. I have been trying to treat this since I was 12 and it's getting steadily worse. I have been examined for all the other health problems I have and they all think it's psychological.
 
I hear ya. That's my situation. The best you can do is to go through the hoops of them prescribing everything else, then maybe they'll realize you're like me - one of those people that needs a benzo to allow therapy to work and 'stick'.

Others may object to this post as it is on the line of asking how to get a drug from a doc. But I'm very sympathetic to your situation, so I replied with what I felt was appropriate.

I feel for you Parabol, and if benzos are your only saving grace then that's that. When PTSD was a major issue for me Sertraline was a miracle drug. Almost overnight the knot in my stomach evaporated, I did not need two weeks for the drug to build up in my system and I have not suffered any side effects...... Of the myriad of drugs I have taken Sertraline proved to be the only one that did exactly what it was supposed to without affecting me negatively.

So what drugs have you tried for this condition? Please include dosages and length of time on them before cessation if you don't mind. Which benzos have you tried? Take care

How is your sleep, are you able to get long, profound sleep or is it just toss and turn? These are all symptoms of total insomnia or MS.

Get them to give you Ketamine. That might mellow you tfo. It's for pain treatment but has anti - d effects. It will help mellow you out.
 
I will have to pull out my health history starting with Paxil and zoloft at age 12. I will get back to you
 
I'm not necessarily asking how to get a benzo, I'm wondering if anyone else was in my shoes and found something else that helped. I hate them. I do feel like I need something to help me get to therapy. Every doctor visit I've had in the past year ends in a full blown panic attack. Thank you.
 
I don't have the ability to watch the video right now but I have "desaturation of oxygen" showing on my home sleep study done by pulse oximeter and have to do an overnight sleep study but haven't been able to have anyone watch my kids overnight to have it done since March. I'm trying to figure something out but all this keeps me from working. I barely function.
 
I don't even know if that's legal? Backwards south Dakota will NOT prescribe ketamine when they refuse most everyone anxiety medication and pain medication even with legit diagnosis and the correct specialist.
 
^I totally understand how crippling anxiety and panic attacks are, you got kids too which I think is the hardest most stressful job on the planet, and gosh if you're a single mum my hats off to you, total respect. I've got one toddler and just could not repeat the level of care that boy gets with another child, so we're"one and done" as it were.

Ffs you're diagnosed and still can't get meds. I take it you've seen psychiatrists so why is there no meds tried?! What about Mirtazipine? Shame you aren't in Oz, I could help somewhat.

What are Dr's reasons for not scribing you a benzo?
 
I'm surprised that you have a problem getting benzodiazepines prescribed if you live in the United States. Doctors are still pretty lenient about prescribing that class of drug, IME (unless there are "mitigating circumstances", like you're prescribed suboxone or something)
 
Sounds like the state has a tight pooper. What population of your state drives impaired othedwise?
 
Same issue here-anxiety disorder with panic attacks and am a caretaker (for my bed bound mom not kids). The ONLY drug that worked wonders for that and sleep was clonazepam for me. Other benzos were ok, SSRI and SNRIs were counterproductive and I had nasty side effects that made all of them make my life worse (I tried over a dozen of those hoops). The last psychiatrist directly told me that with a history like mine the DEA would never allow him to prescribe a benzo again. Like grow a fucking pair doc. New state-new appt for a new doc and I'm faced with the challenge again of whether or not I should be honest and open with a psychiatrist. It shouldn't have to be this way.

Can you see a gastro-interologist? Why does therapy make you anxious? At least find a therapist that you are comfortable with and who you can work with. Which SSRIS have you tried? Did you ever take both an SSRI and a prescribed benzo with therapy or couseling? Good luck.
 
Asking what to say to a doctor to get drugs is against the rules, but I get where you're coming from, so as long as noone talks about that part I won't close the thread.

Have you tried hydroxyzine or L-Theanine ?
 
have you ever tried TM-meditation? its not a quick fix, but after a few months it made a real impact on my life
