This can be potentially a very frustrating situation.

I have 2 prescriptions (2 bottles) for oxycodone. On both bottles, my FIRST name is spelled incorrectly. There is one letter (a consonant) in the middle of my first name that is missing. Every other letter is in place and correct except for the one letter in the middle of my first name that is absent. By the time I noticed these mistakes, I had already taken a flight back to my home state.
My last name, and address are correct. Now, I'm assuming normally this would not be a big deal. Even though the prescription is 100% legitimate, there are certain unlucky circumstances involved that may complicate things should I need to verify the prescription.

A) The prescription was written and filled in Florida. My hometown is not even near Florida.

B) It is known by law enforcement everywhere that Florida has a "pill mill" problem, and the doctor who wrote my prescription is in fact a very lenient "Dr. Feel Good".

C) The pharmacy where I filled the prescription is a small independent pharmacy, located in a primarily hispanic town in Florida, and has mostly spanish speaking employees. (It just so happens that the way the pharmacy mispelled my name actually is the spanish way of spelling my first name, so it makes sense in spanish).

So, as you can see, if I am ever searched by law enforcement for whatever reason (even minor such as traffic stop), I am completely paranoid that the cops are going to harass me over this misspelling. To be frank, my town has a huge drug problem and the cops here are notorious for being domineering, sadist duchebags. Since my prescription is for a very large amount of oxycodone (which has a TON of media stigma attached to it), and I do not look like someone in severe pain. I am certain that because of the mentioned factors that the cops are going to give me a rough time about this if there's an encounter.

Even though I'm not in severe pain, it IS a legal prescription since a doctor CHOSE to write it for me. However, I can envision cops trying to call the pharmacy to verify it, having a hard time understanding them due to the spanish accent, and using this as a further reason to harass me.

Another thing is that I understand pharmacies can get in trouble because of mistakes like this. What if I need to verify that the name is misspelled, and the pharmacy denies that I filled the script there just to cover their own asses and deny the mistake?

Am I being paranoid, or is this nothing to worry about?

dude your paranoid as fuck..first off why are you carrying both scripts with you? leave them at home..i mean how many do you plan on taking if your out and about? if you really need too grab 2or3 and throw them in your pocket so if you ever get pulled over you can just eat them or throw them away in a can of pop or something.

if your carrying around 2 scripts and get stopped and they see the pills are from out of state, they might question it...then you just tell them you ran out of your script on vacation and went to the doctor out there..im sure they wont buy the excuse cause im sure everyone and their mother has seen the "oxycontin express" documentary but if your name is on the bottle then thats cool even if it is spelled wrong.

and if you get caught with all them pills and they give them back to you, best believe they might try and get you with somesort of snitch to buy a couple of them pills off you...i only say it cause ive seen it happen before where my friend got pulled over and searched and the cops found 2 full scripts of bars.. they hassled him, trying to get him to admit hes selling them an of course he denys that...and being that it was his hometown police that stopped him, and the police know him and alot of us really cause really its a town of less then 20k people and its where we have grown up..of course we have been arrested and have been at parties that the cops came and broke up and we just know the cops like they know us...well the police allegedlly tried getting 2kids who we gre up with who got arrested together for some weed to call up my buddy and see if they could get xanax off him..they both say that they havent talked to him since like high school or a few years and they dont even know if he sells that shit..of course they didnt snitch for a little weed but cops are dumb like that and when they got released the first thing they did was call my buddy and i was sitting there at his house with him, when he got the call..and we both couldnt believe it but then again we knew how those cops where and wernt suprised..i mean these cops got nothing better to do then try and go out of their way to get someone in trouble but trying to get a couple people who got some misty weed charge to snitch ona friend is just plain dumb and they showed their cards before the rest of us even got ours

but dont think that shit cant happen..so just be smart and leave that shit at home and just bring out one or 2 that you can eat if you really need them..

You're fine, if the majority of the letters correctly spell your name, and the only difference is a missing consonant, there is absolutely NO PROBLEM there. If it was a different first name entirely, then you might have a problem.

This is totally your call man. Maybe you shouldn't be riding around with the script if you're worried about it. There is no HR in this thread and there is no real social value in this either. I'm closing this. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
