So I have friend who is a great hair stylist and has a salon. She has girls that do hair extensions and other things of that nature. I am really good at doing make-up and she recently told me to get licensed to do permanent make-up, laser hair removal so that I can start working for her. She already has clients interested in this type of service.

Does anyone have experience with this type of thing?

I found a program that is about 2 hours away from my house. It's 5 full days and costs 2k. I'd stay at a hotel for that time.

As far as doing the laser hair removal, I think this thread is prrrrobably better suited for E&C.

For getting it done, I have looked into it quite extensively, and the next couple hundred dollars I get to blow is going to get blown on lasering some hair off my body. It's not guaranteed to work or else I would've already had it done.

Also, I know a lady who had the permanent makeup done... She loves it. Just had eyeliner done--it doesn't look tattoo-ish at all. She does need to get it touched up every few years (I think every ten?). So, there's job security for ya!

I frequently pass a salon that advertises permanent makeup and while I have had the fleeting thought, it's something I could never do.

I am the type of person who could never get a tattoo either, so that is probably a large part of the reason why - I just wouldn't like anything permanently on my body.

However, all reports I've heard of other people who have had it done (I don't know any personally) they love it and find it adds a lot of convenience to their makeup routine.

I shudder at the thought of someone with 5 days training is certified laser to my pubic hair and take a needle to my eyelids.

This.

That is all.:|

Being a hairdresser who has done an apprenticeship (3 years) PLUS extra training (for fashion), i also shudder that something a lot more 'complex' only requiring 5 day's training.

So what would you consider adequate training and how would one get it? Through first doing tattoo work? If you went to get the work done what kind of credentials would be good enough for you to get anything done?

Just wondering what kind of training the permanent make-up artists had that your friend used.

Do people come from cosmetology or tattoos into the field?

What interests me the most is aureola augmentation for cancer patients.

I certainly wouldn't come out of the program and after 5 days do actual work. But people do it and they start somewhere.

I actually found lots of negative reports. Of people hating it.
