Hi. So ill get right to it. Ive been taking 225mg to 300mg a day of pregabalin for 30 days now. I wanna stop taking it as at this point, its not helping and rather than increase dosage, i wanna quit. Ive quit tramadol before, and it went fine. I know pregabalin is on a different level so, i wanna ask a few questions. And, i cant go to a doc, i cant go to rehab or anything. I can get pregabalin dirt cheap directly from pharmacy anytime i want. Im out rn tho.

1. How big of a risk is Cold turkey seizure wise? I dont have epilepsy, i have spina bifida but i dont have kidney problems.
2. Tapering seems like, its just gonna further the physical dependence?, Should i rather take 75mg a day for a few days?

Any help is very welcomed and appreciated, Thank you.

Based merely on the fact that it tickles the GABA receptors and all that, I would highly suggest that you try and taper off of it if possible. If you are out, you may think about using a benzo to deal with WDs if that's a possibility due to the seizure risk.

I am speaking as a lay-person when it comes to the actual clinical methods that will hopefully be suggested by people who are more in the know, but as someone who has gone through benzo WDs a couple of times and I think have also accidentally come off of a couple of pregabalin binge and ended up in a nasty way - which I assume was WDs - I am hypothesising that going cold turkey is definitely not the way to go.

In short: the likelihood is that you will become very ill if you come off of pregabalin cold turkey so please do not put yourself through that. Hopefully you will get a better, more useful and scientific answer but tapering seems like the obvious way to go.

Good luck and be careful dude.

Tapering, if it is dirt cheap, sounds most sensible, having been on for it 15 years I speak from my own experience. they were just as bad as benzo w/d, restless legs, no sleep, and pacing, shaking. Not even benzos would cover it for me when I ran out last October. Was traumatic, but I have tapered off painlessly a few times over the years, when i would take too much leading me to extreme rationing for a week or so waiting for the next prescription refill.

I know 30 days isnt too long. 100 mgs for a few days would sure soften the landing, so to speak. its relatively painless to taper off.
Can be brutal cold turkey. Hope you update, Could you get a little more and wait until you are uncomfortable then take 100mgs, then 75. 50mg, etc.
Should be feeling good after 1-2 weeks of tapering. Why torture yourself, if you want off tapering is much easier/quicker than benzos for some reason...
