Heroin precipitated Withdrawal or drawn out withdrawal

Okay for the past two years I have been taking suboxone for maintenance from heroin. It has served it purpose but I decieded to get off it about around Christmas time. I stopped taking it but picked up heroin again so I wouldn't feel the withdrawals. They were mild (I.E. not enough nausea to make me throw up but enough to say my stomach was upset. The biggest thing was the insanity restless legs was causing me.)

Well I told myself that I would just use it to make the withdrawals mainly restless legs go away. My plan was to use heroin for 2 weeks roughly. I knew it wasn't going to work but I am an addict and I wanted to get high also. I picked a habit again. Last night without heroin in the evening time I was throwing up and the whole shebang. They could be a lot worse however there here. I got 40 worth of heroin today I am nodding off with I am typing.

I know precipitated withdrawal last not too long. My question is if I induce withdrawal by taking the last 1.5 mg of suboxone after it's done will I still be withdrawing from not having opiates. Its out of the question to just withdrawal due to having a job and I just can't work and be detoxing. I will suffer the PW if after that's all done I won't be withdrawing. Any experienced with this please let me know.

was not clear about my post let me know and I will try to make more sense out of it. I feel it is hard to ask what I am asking. putting my thought into words just seems a little difficult right now

You don't want to suffer through precipitated withdrawal, trust me.

If I understood your post correctly (and correct me if I'm wrong here) - you're using heroin now and want to just switch to using Suboxone (buprenorphine) right after and send yourself into precipitated withdrawals, then have the Suboxone relieve those symptoms?

I think maybey what he's asking, is if since he's been off suboxone for two weeks, and using heroin to not suffer the suboxone withdrawals, if then taking some suboxone would knock off all the heroin from the receptor sites, and then, after the precipitated withdrawal ended, and the suboxone took effect, he would cease the suboxone too, thinking that since the heroin was knocked off the receptor sites, that using the suboxone that one time and then stopping it, would completely detox him...? (im not sure if this is what you were thinking too neighborrhoodThreat)

It's kind of confusing, but if that is the question, no it will not work. Suboxone is still an opioid, partial agonist as it is, and using heroin to detox from suboxone is really not that great of an idea, unless you're really willing to then go through the shorter, but more acute withdrawal from heroin. The good thing is, that I'm pretty sure after two weeks, buprenorphine is totally out of your system. That doesn't mean that the withdrawals are totally over, but definately the most acute withdrawals are.

Knocking the heroin from you're receptor sites off with suboxone is going to put you in precipitated withdrawal, but once it ends and the suboxone kicks back in, it will basically be like inducting yourself back on to buprenorphine. Because if you don't continue to take suboxone, the withdrawals will start in again, as the suboxone leaves the receptor sites that had been occupied by the heroin for the last two weeks.

If you really want to quit suboxone, you should wait twenty four hours since your last shot of heroin, and take some suboxone then to alleviate withdrawal without causing precipitated withdrawal. Then do a one week taper, something like 6, 4, 2, 1, 1, .5, .25 and then jump off. It will probably not be painless but it will work better than purposely putting yourself through precipitated withdrawal,(which is fucking horrible) and then basically detoxing cold turkey.

You can either do it that way, or try and get some methadone and quickly taper yourself off that. I personally find that methadone is better for detox, but that's just my oppinion. Many people have successfully detoxed using suboxone as well.

Doing sub myself. Heroin is short acting so wait at least 12 hrs. Once your eyes start watering take half of what you have. After 4 years of heavy opiate use and 24hrs of abstaining less then 1mg was more then.

Yes I think Z negative understood I can remember this from an experience. I remember using heroin and ended up getting an ambulance called. They gave me naxalone or something to reverse the effect of heroin. After that whole PW was over I don't remember withdrawing. I was in a mental hospital and was nor being given suboxone. Ill try to rephrase it.

1. take suoxone with heroin still on my receptors
2.go precipitated withdrawal by taking suboxone
3wait til that is over.
After that dose of suboxone I was not trying to take any more heroin or suboxone. No more opiates.

My question if after the PW are over with and after the the heroin is off my receptors and after the suboxone wears off them as well(which will be however long it takes) will I have withdrawals. I just wanted to make sure we are all thinking alike and wasn't confused. Thanks for replying,

If you are inducing wd make sure you have someone near by. It's a quite a shock to your system, possibly your bp will shoot up, there is also a possibility of seizure and I have seen ppl get a stroke as well. Just don't do it alone. Go stand outside of ER and do it, at least someone will be able to save you if it goes terribly wrong.

Yeah. I still think it is a bad idea. First of all, like everyon has said, precipitated withdrawals are very nasty. I've experienced it, and it really was like a nightmare.

Second of all, like I said above, inducing withdrawal this way, doesn't make anymore sense than quitting cold turkey to be honest. I'm fact it makes less sense. You will still have withdrawal once the suboxone wears off, because you are still going to have those extra receptors created by opiates that will be empty. Taking the drug off the receptor doesn't mean that withdrawals are over, it just means the drug has been removed from the picture, and it's that abscense that causes the withdrawal. Im not exactly sure how rapid detoxes work, but I know that they usually put you under and administer large dosages of naloxone. However I find it very hard to believe that you can get someone completely through withdrawals through this method. Perhaps you can get the worst of it out of the way, but you still have the problem of the extra opiate receptor sites created from using opiates in the first place. Perhaps someone with more understanding of this kind of thing can chime in.

Yeah PW's are really a nightmare.. especially if you don't have any way to make your self feel better i.e, money/means to get dope. Theres nowhere to run once you dose too early..you fucked your self.

And yeah rapid detox's are BS.. unless you have a REALYL small habit, you come out still withdrawing hard as fuck and paws and shit.
