Since Scopolamine effects is closely related to DPH, can DPH also be used as a pre-operative sedative?

It even has ALMOST the same chemical formula structure between the two meds> Scopolamine: C17H21NO4 / DPH: C17H21NO

So, can DPH also be used as a preoperative sedative over scopolamine since the effects almost closely resembles scopolamine?

Thanks!

In theory, yes, probably. It's an effective sedative by itself and when mixed with opiates it usually induces a pretty hard nod. But scopolamine is better at inducing amnesia and better for "Twilight" type sedation than diphenhydramine.

They are close, as are a few other antihistamines.
