I thought I would make a thread of prayers and invocations for everyone to use. They can be really uplifting and give you peace of mind

I will start with an acient Vedic prayer.

May the wicked become good.
May the good obtain peace.
May the peaceful be freed from bonds.
May the freed set others free.
May it rain at the right time.
May the earth have storehouses full of grain.
May all be free of disturbances.
May all be happy.
May all be healthy.
May no one have a share in sorrow.
May everyone surmount their difficulties.
May everyone see only auspicious sights.
May everyone have their desires fulfilled.
May everyone everywhere be glad.
May blessings fall on our father.
May blessings fall on all.
May everything of ours flourish.
And long may we see the sun.

Always a good one when you're in a bad place:

The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not want
He makes me lie down in green pastures
He leads me by the still waters
He restores my soul
He leads me down the paths of rightousness for His name's sake
Yea, even as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil, because you Lord are with me
Your rod and your staff they comfort me and make me feel safe
You prepare a table before me in front of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil
My cup runneth over
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever

Don't anyone have anything to contribute to this thread?
I think we could use with it, to put it like that.

Jesus taught us how to pray and it wasn't like this.

It's just a different approach.

I'm not a conservative Christian and there are many versions of these all around the world (many brilliant ones). They can be protective and feel healing and blessing. It can make you feel better just reciting them from within and can also be used for world-healing.

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let Light stream forth into human minds.
Let Light descend on earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let Love stream forth into human hearts
May the Coming One return to earth.

From the center where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little human wills
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the center which we call the human race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

You kind of suck at this, don't you?

Guess it will be mostly for me to pull it up from the bottomless pit.

And I mostly made this thread for your benefit - I wanted there a place where you could come to find the most beautiful and inspirational ones. They can have much power.

Prayer of Gratitude

O God, I thank You for this day of life
For eyes to see the sky
For ears to hear the birds
For feet to walk amidst the trees
For hands to pick the flowers from the earth
For a sense of smell to breathe in the sweet
perfumes of nature
For a mind to think about and appreciate
the magic of everyday miracles
For a spirit to swell in joy at Your mighty presence
everywhere.

The Light of the Heart

I am the Light of the heart
Shining in the darkness of being
And changing all into the golden treasury
Of the Mind of Christ.

I am projecting my love
Out into the world
To erase all errors
And to break down all barriers.

I am the power of infinite love
Amplifying itself
Until it is victorious
In the World without end.

And there's always the one Jesus taught us.

Our Father

Our Father, Thou who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive our own sinners
Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For the kingdom is Yours
And the power, and glory
Forever

This was the one our priest used when he came to pray for me and bless me to rescue me from the Nuthouse.

He prayed for me, then we prayed this together, then he put his hands over my head to bless me, and I could just about feel this tingling warmth and electricity from his palms going into my head. He has done a lot to restore my faith in the Christian church, actually, not that I really had any to begin with.

But he is a real man of God. Not all priests could do this or even inspire you or make you feel better in any way (he's so much in demand where I live he once suffered a breakdown of exhaustion). But it's not as much about the prayer as the one who prays and his amount of spiritual power.

And I honestly found the 90 minute session I had with him more helpful than anything I've received from any doctor, psychologist, or psychiatrist. Though that might also be because I am more spiritually inclined. Anyway, he recognised all my ideas and experiences, and didn't think I was crazy or anything.

And I reckon God is ultimately the best judge of that.

Irish Fisherman's Prayer

Dear Lord,
be good to me...
The sea is so wide
and my boat is so small.

I wish I was little bit taller
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
And a six four Impala

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almightly: From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion on the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen

Group Consciousness

I am one with my brothers
And all that I have is theirs
May the love that is in my soul
Pour forth to them
May the strength that is in me lift and aid them
May the thoughts which my soul creates
Reach and encourage them

I remember hearing that in the Presbyterian church I grew up in.

The use of the word 'Catholic' does not have anything to do with the Roman Catholic church, but the word Catholic means universal, and it's used in this way in the religious creed.

Earth Blessing

From the Heart of God
Let the entire Earth be blessed with loving-kindness.
Let the entire Earth be blessed with great joy, happiness, and divine peace.
Let the entire Earth be blessed with understanding, harmony, and goodwill.
So be it
