Potentiating Methadone question ?

My question is; Is Gabapentin (Neurontin) if taken at high does, maybe around 1.5-2.5 grams able to potentiate the effects of Methadone ? I know Lyrica is known for that but Gabapentin is basically the poor mans Lyrica to my knowledge which means alot less potent. So yes or no can Gabapentin potentiate my Methadone ?


I dont have any tagament or anything else that is KNOWN to potentiate opiates and/OR Methadone so that is out of the question, so please dont suggest anything else because I probably wont have it, thank you

I take neurontin daily, and though I have gained a tolerance and the recreational effects of it are long gone, I still notice a nice synergy and boost of energy/mood when I take opiates. (Mainly heroin). So in my opinion, it definitely goes well with opiates.

I have been on methadone for 6 yrs. My doctor prescribed lyrica and I certainly didn't have any problem. It was prescried for nerve pain. Also been on Neurotin with no effects.

gabapentin definitely adds a nice "flavor" to the methadone high. however, lyrica is the bees' knees' with methadone or any opiate/benzo, and neurotin with methadone is alot safe than methadone + benzo

mixing methadone with benzos (valium, klonopin, xanax) can be a recipe for disaster, it potentiates the effects tremendously, for example, i can handle taking 8mg of xanax, walk, and talk fine, same with 40mg methadone, im not impaired at all, but when i mix them, i easily black out, or end up in the hospital, which has happen. i assume lyrica will potentiate and gabapentin also

methadone isn't really a recreational Drug and stays in your system for days. I see no need to potentiate it , its dangerous enough as it is.

This thread is turning into a general discussion about methadone which isn't really what BDD is about these days.. We try to answer individual questions quickly and have to be strict about threads moving towards general chat otherwise we get overwhelmed!

Am going to close this as a couple of people have said that it does improve the recreational effects, and others have also warned about the dangers of potentiating a strong and long lasting opioid, so I think your question has been answered DonMakaveli. If you disagree, shoot me a pm
