Gangs protect their marijuana

Marijuana houses can be dangerous to your health in more ways than one. Detective Ian Calder of Peel's Morality Bureau said deadly traps are being discovered in pot houses in Mississauga.

He noted that in recent years, officers and even residents have found traps in Mississauga homes set for the sole purpose of injury, and possibly death.

Last year, investigators raided a Mississauga residence to find timers and wires mounted to a piece of plywood set above the side door.

The purpose was to trigger an electrocution once the door was opened.

"If we went through that door, we would have exposed the wire and there would have been a good chance one of our guys would have been electrocuted," said Calder. "These traps are set to prevent intruders from stealing their marijuana."

Recently, a real estate agent found copper wire around a pot house in Mississauga set to give off an electrical shock when touched.

Police say there have been at least three booby-trapped homes in Mississauga in the last three years, but it is a relatively new aspect of the pot-growing industry,

The trap issue arose at Friday's Peel Police Services Board (PSB) meeting. PSB members were informed the federal government introduced legislation making it a Criminal Code offence for setting a "deadly trap" in a place used for a criminal purpose.

"If firefighters or police officers are put at risk, injured or killed by traps set to defend these criminal enterprises from law enforcement or rival gangs, those who set the traps must feel the full weight of the law," said Justice Minister Martin Cauchon at a recent press conference.

The proposed legislation would impose a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for those who set these traps. That increases to 14 years if injury occurs and a life sentence if someone is killed by a trap.

In other jurisdictions, officers have discovered guns connected to doors by trick wire that would go off when the door is opened, noted Calder.

The legislation was part of a controversial bill tabled by Cauchon Tuesday before the House of Commons that would decriminalize the possession of small amounts of pot, meaning offenders would be subjected to fines, instead of criminal prosecution.

This year, police have discovered around 55 pot houses in Mississauga. Last year, 147 were found.

I've seen some FUCKED up shit around outdoor patches. I won't go into details and give people ideas, but these are some places you wouldn't want to accidently stumble into on a hike.

Well....I think that if it's YOUR house, you should be able to booby trap any way you damn well please. If someone busts in or tries to gain entry unlawfuly, then that's their fault if they get shocked.

If it's a theif coming into you're house and a boobytrap kills them,... that's one thing. But, what do you think is going to happen when your trap kills a cop, legally entering your premises with a warrant. It's called the death penalty. Not worth it. Dumb idea to trap your place... least with anything lethal.

SIDE NOTE: Last month I e-mailed the History Channels 'Mail Call' show with the question "Where does the term 'boobytrap' caome from?" I haven't heard back from them. :( I just wanted them to say Boobie. :)

^^^^ Unfortunately, if you booby-trap your house or have even as much as electric fence and a thief gets hurt, you will be charged and they can sue you in a Civil lawsuit ON TOP of the criminal charges. However, if you sit in your house with a shot gun and can prove a self defence for shooting a thief, then you get away with it.

I wonder what would happen if you posted signs stating that if you enter it could be harmful to your health, and that tresspassers will be shot (or shocked) etc...

I mean, if you put the information out there and the violator still enters, haven't you done all you could to protect the health of this asshole? And if a cop decides to ignore the warning signs... well, I'm sure you'd still be in trouble, but damn what a dumbass...

Ah well... just a thought.

^^^^

Good point but no, all they have to do is prove they either did not see the sign "Well judge it was dark at night and I didn't see no damn sign" or simply that they cannot read or something similar.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's bomb squad was called out today to a duplex in suburban Lake Worth after a cable installer discovered three marijuana plants surrounded by tripwires and a spike-filled pit.

Officials blocked off the area around the duplex at 4117 42nd Way South as they worked to determine whether any explosives were attached to the trip wires surrounding the marijuana, which was planted along a canal bank behind the building, according to sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller.

"Somebody had put a bunch of (spikes) in this pit," Miller said. "You could actually fall into this pit and be seriously hurt."

The area was still cordoned off at 2 p.m., nearly three hours after the sheriff's office first received a call about the situation.

I saw something about this on the History Channel not too long ago. Except they were talking about outdoor areas. They do things like tie fishing hooks to branches so people who walk by get their faces torn. Or they set up a piece of wood with a shotgun shell in it, then they have this mousetrap-type thing that gets set off when a trip wire is tripped. When the mousetrap gets set off, it hits the shell and shoots. They don't even need guns, just a god damned piece of wood and a shell.

AhhHH!
*squishHH!!*

:D

Need some of those crazy doors that chop cunts in half... hahah HAHA ho ho :D

If you had adequate signs like, " Warning eletric fence," on your huge ass electric fence you'd be pretty much immune to a civil suit also many, "No Trespassing, could be hazordous to your health." Would put you in the clear. If they had a warrant to search your proprty on the other hand nad a cop got killrd you coulbe sent to the gas chamber, which apparently smells like that pine spray disinfectant stuff.
