Pot after Wisdom Teeth Removal

Just had my wisdom teeth removed on Wed. and I want to know what your thoughts are on smoking...I've heard that dry-sockets are comparable to childbirth (or so I heard), so I want nothing to do with that! Plus, I still have some minor bleeding...though it's very slight.
So, how soon have people smoked after having their wisdom teeth out? Any bad oral effects? What about hash smoking or opium smoking...bad idea, or same risks involved with pot?
Thanks everybody!

i would wait a week until smoking anything..
i smoked one pack of cigs a day but when i had mine removed i didnt touch any cigarettes for two weeks.
its not really worth risking anything.. that can be a real bitch.
my 'dentist' told me smoking after 1 week would be ok.. i dont know about smoking anything different than tobacco though.. probably even worse..

i smoked the day i had them out (1-2 months ago). took valium temazepam and codiene with the weed. needless to say i slept very soundly that night. didnt have any problems with smoking. just smoked it slowly and gentely. didnt smoke too much.

As long as you hit gentle you should be okay.. the real problem isn't with crap getting in the holes, but sucking too hard. If ya suck too hard, the suction can pull your sutures loose and it won't heal right.

No the problem is dry sockets. That is why you don't smoke cigarettes for a few days. The same might could be true for weed, I don't really know. But why risk it, you should have you a bottle of vicodin or percocet from the dentist to keep you occupied.

I did get some percs from the dentist, but I find that taking 1 at a time doesn't do much for the pain...I've been coupling the percs with 2 advil each time. Maybe I should take 2-3 percs for the pain?

I would say if you wanna smoke a little something then go ahead.I just wouldnt smoke a lot. When i had my wisdom teeth removed my mouth barely hurt and didnt bleed except on the first day.I love the vicodin(which you probably were given) combined with one or two joints,no blunts though because they ruin the opiate high.

i personally waited 5 or 7 days or whatever the recommended time was between tooth extraction and smoking again. i dunno, i'd wait, or, if you just have to smoke some bud asap, just do what other people on this thread said - take it slowly, don't pull really hard on your hits, smoke only a small amount, etc..
peace!

I can't believe I ate the whole thing.

This isn't a myth/made up story:
I was smokeing weed with a guy who had his wisdom teeth out 5 days prior. He started to taste some blood half way through the joint so he went to the washroom. 5 minutes later he was spitting out entire mouthfulls for blood for like 45 min. It was so gross, we had to take him to the clinic and tell them it happened after he smoked a ciggerette.
I wouldnt't risk that, at least wait until the blood is finished clotting and you aren't bleeding at all.

A friend of mine needed a cigarette so bad a few hours after having his wisdom teeth out that he stuck it up a nostril, plugged the other one and inhaled that way. He said it gave him a wicked head rush.
Later when it came to pot, we just gave him shotguns.
Adios,
Steve

I can confirm that the cigarette trick worked -- several smoking friends of mine made it through that week-long period utilizing that one.
It's probably a little more harsh, but if you get a pipe, or God forbid a joint, you can probably use your nostril, I would assume.
