Actually nodding and listening to noise is heavenly.
The first time I experienced this state, was when I listened to a collaboration of Masami Akita and Sunn O))) for two tracks in the middle of Flight of the Behemoth.
I was using my (at the time) roommates' speakers, which I had cranked up. The drone-heavy first track had me nodding/sleepy, and then the tracks with Merzbow had me enjoying noise in a nodding/sleepy state.
Merzbow's Offering would be especially good for an IV heroin experience. IMO. :D
i've got a couple hundred. big dollar bin fan here, hate paying more than 5 bucks for a record. i get either stuff with a cool looking cover, something that has instruments i want to listen to, something i know the musicians on, or stuff with a bunch of black guys on the cover (cuz it's probably funk or soul.) i sample records all the time so i buy weird stuff that i think will have cool sounds a lot (soundtracks, world music, others.)
just discovered my dads old vinyl collection, combined it with the hand full of records i've picked up over the last month or so, but need a player for them. currently not within budget to get a top end technics or whatever. any recommendations for a player with good sound quality / reasonable value?
I recommend something by Audio-Technica. Their AT-60 is their basic starting turntable and it goes for around $100. I bought the AT-120 which is the next step up. I saw it on amazon for around 400 bucks one day. Then I saw it on sale for $250 or so. I bought it and have been really happy with it for the past 2 years. I`m pretty sure it`s based on a Technics tuntable but for way,way less money.
