i would say "idk kinda like dance music?" i wouldn't say "pop"

same with Madonna (who i love)

I would have said 'pop' to both of them without hesitation

(not if I met them like, I'd hope to not say 'pop' on that occasion)
 
interesting....

the only thing that i call "pop" is like that weak poppy punk sound that bands like Blink 182 put out
