Sonic Youth, "JC."
Always cost a pair of hose, faces pressed together rose
Arms around each other's back, you know that I liked you, Jack
More than all the other boys who pose, a silent dance in the woods
In the silver light that shone, another can of Coca-Cola
Don't you ever call me mom, freckled dance ain't in the plan
The air's so thin, it weighs a ton, as far as you can see is fun
You're nothing but a history, a second here and then you're gone
Quicksand, quicksand all around, turn the corner just beyond
The shadows move and change the groove, and something tells me not to brood
Turn and run and that's a shove, you're walking through my heart once more
Don't forget to close the door, I'm not certain what you found
I'll remember the charm you wore, like a crowd followed you
Sunny skies and angel's pleas floating down upon my knees
That wasn't how it's supposed to be, clear blue eyes, justice tries
The wind is busy blowing dizzy, you're dreams were shot like a star
Exploding in a mind somewhere, doing something on a dare
Pulling a trigger like breathing air, a sun-kissed boy that gave no thought
To what he'd made while others saved
Ocean spray the candle said, it's dripping in my hand, you're dead
Little brother reminding me, the moments tick forever tree
You can see as far as sin, don't you know the shape I'm in
You're walking through my heart once more, don't forget to close the door

A-back in the days when the battles raged
And we thought it was nothing
A bookstore man meets the CIA and we know
Throw me a cord and plug it in
Get the baby rocking
Ah, out with the redneck sick old men
And it's go
The hair in the hole in my head
Too bad the scene is dead
Memories in the shadow
Back in time again
Ah, I can't forget your terrorized face
When you cried for the shameless
Wasted life
And you smile
So why should we run when we cannot hide
And my flag is burning?
We could be wrong but that's alright
We'll rise again
The hair in the hole in my head
Too bad the scene is dead
Memories in the shadow
It's back in town again
Lookin' away it's another day
And of course we love you
Radical man is the CIA
And we say no
We'll round up the Durham H.C. kids
And the Char-Grill Killers
Jesse H. come into our pit
All-ages show
The hair in the hole in my head
Too bad the scene is dead
Memories in the shadow
It's back in time again

Thanks to Ozzie and Sabbath. When I was 12 I realized I ran with the pack that believed and prepared and it was this song that made it ok.

After Forever
Have you ever thought about your soul can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?

When you think about death do you lose your breath or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light and I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared at the end of our days

Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
That God is the only way to love

Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun?

I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near, say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down, now you can't retrieve

Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate
Or will you still jeer at all you hear, yes I think it's too late

I was running far away would I run off the world someday?
Nobody knows Nobody Knows

If I dissolve into your body
If I hoped to find
White light in your soul
If together we fall into forever
Would we not notice the turbulence
That no longer waits?
First he comes
From on a hill
Then he's running
Throughout the town
Then he stands
Devoid of peace
Devoid of place
Devoid of pity
Oh my dear Christ
Carried broken from sad brown earth
Teeth. Teeth. Teeth. Teeth. Teeth.

The Eternal

Procession moves on, the shouting is over,
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone.
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables,
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain.
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden,
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky,
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment,
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside.

Cry like a child, though these years make me older,
With children my time is so wastefully spent,
A burden to keep, though their inner communion,
Accept like a curse an unlucky deal.
Played by the gate at the foot of the garden,
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall,
No words could explain, no actions determine,
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall.

"the clocks keep unwinding, they completely ignore, everything that we hate or adore,
once the page of a calender is turned it's no more,
so tell me then what was it for?
Oh tell me what was it for?"

"We'll keep working on the problems I know we'll never solve,
of love's uneven remainders our lives are fractions of a whole,
but if the world could remain within a frame like a painting on a wall,
I think we'd see the beauty then, we'd stand staring in awe."

"I drift away, it's night at lake unknown I'm floating,
I see it all for what it is,
most anything can be forgiven,
with what is left we'll have to live."

"Poison ink spews from a speechwriter's pen, no he don't have to say it so it don't bother him,
honesty, accuracy is just popular opinion,
and the approval rating's high, so someone's gonna die."

"They made me a necklace, hanging beads of sweat, on a string of my regret,
and placed it round my neck."

"There's a glass psyche at state, so throw me a brick, we'll see if it breaks.
The mind and the brain aren't quite the same, but they both want out of this place."

"There's this switch that gets hit and it all stops making sense,
in the middle of drinks maybe the fifth or the sixth,
I'm completely alone at a table of friends, I feel nothing for them.
I feel nothing, nothing."

"Each morning she wakes with a dream to describe,
something lovely that bloomed within her beautiful mind,
and I say 'I'll trade you one for two nightmares of mine',
I know somewhere we die, I know somewhere we all die."

Just a collection of a few good lines. All by the same man: Conor Oberst.

Machine gun
Tearing my body all apart
Machine gun
Tearing my body all apart
Evil man make me kill you
Evil man make you kill me
Evil man make me kill you
Even though we're only families apart
Well, I pick up my axe and fight like a farmer
You know what I mean?
Hey, and your bullets keep knocking me down
Hey, I pick up my axe and fight like a farmer now
Yeah, but you still blast me down, to the ground
The same way you shoot me down, baby
You'll be going just the same
Three times the pain
And your own self to blame
Hey, machine gun
I ain't afraid of your mess no more, babe
I ain't afraid no more
After a while your, your cheap talk won't even cause me pain
So let your bullets fly like rain
Because I know all the time you're wrong, baby
And you'll be going just the same
Yeah, machine gun
Tearing my family apart
Yeah, yeah, alright
Tearing my family apart
Don't you shoot him down
He's about to leave here
Don't you shoot him down
He's got to stay here
He ain't going nowhere
He's been shot down to the ground
Oh, where he can't survive no, no
Yeah, that's what we don't want to hear anymore, alright
(No bullets)
At least here
(No guns, no bombs)
