Inspired by the finger-picking thread! I want more exposure to great guitarists, and recommendations are going to be the best way for me to find out about artists I never would have come across on my own. I'll start out the thread by linking to two guitarists I'm really into right now:

Gary Lucas

Link one
Link two

"Stevie Ray Virus"

(...I've just been watching this guy's Youtube channel, so I know nothing about him other than what I see in the videos. Still, he's freakin' talented!)

Blues
Rock improv
Jazz improv

All links are appreciated!

Haha, awesome! Keep 'em coming! By the time this is over, I hope to have an entire new playlist!

i've always enjoyed this: eric johnson: cliffs of dover. a little slow to start perhaps but it's worth it...

That is a great song. It does start slow but that's the thing about Eric Johnson. He CAN be flashy but he doesn't go out and just blow his load from the get-go. Great sense of melody. You can hum along with his songs.

Manhatten is one of my favorites of his. Not that flashy at all but very tastefully understated. I have a soft spot for Desert Rose too I wish he were a little more prolific. 6 albums in a 30+ year career?

I would say that Eric Johnson and Brian May probably have the most unique guitar sounds out there. You could literally pick them out of a thousand guitar players.

I'll edit this post with some awesome Vai and Satriani songs tomorrow.

I'm way too out of it to go through all the steps... You know Youtube > Here.

>_>

This is Reverend Gary Davis - Candyman. It's hard to believe that he picked with only his thumb and forefinger. I tried to find an original of Samson and Delilah but there wasn't one on youtube :(

This is a decent cover of Louis Collins by Mississippi John Hurt minus the lyrics. Once again I couldn't find an original on youtube. It took me 2 months of practising every day to learn this song and about a week to forget it :\ The TAB can be found on acousticfingerpicking.com

And here's some Lightnin' Hopkins thrown in for good measure....Baby Please Don't Go
