Nothing much interesting...keeps me functioning I guess...

definately. My workers know all the old school 'street' stuff, but haven't got a clue about the 'internet generation' of drugs. My medication and self medication now consists of mirtazapine, promethazine, etizolam. and nicotine. Since eliminating the kratom (and a a highly stimulating strain at that) i have also been able to eliminate diphenhydramine in order to be able to get to sleep. This means i dont sleep for at least 12 hours every night any more. The nicotine and promethazine could be dropped relatively easily.
My current keyworker (that's the one that deals with druggy stuff specifically) has the most irritating habit of using the blanket term "legal highs" to describe all the drugs I take. Despite me pointing out that Class A drugs are not exactly legal (although they admittedly do get one high). Irks me immensely cos it's so damn ignorant and dismissive. Not to mention wildly inaccurate. He really is quite clueless and am quite annoyed my DSP switched keyworkers on me after the best part of a decade seeing my previous one who I got on really well with.
Oh, and in on-topic news, my current script is more or less just bupe, although I also sometimes get omeprazole (perhaps not overly exciting but really rather useful) and nicotine patches and inhalators for my on-again/off-again quitting smoking kicks. I'm hoping this upcoming peev run will help with the no smoking thing cos I usually don't smoke cigs when on a run and with it being more than just the two and a bit days of a half-run it might just be enough to be a bit more useful in breaking the habit. As long as I remember to use the patches to avert cravings as soon as the peev wears off. Considerably harder than I'd hoped for is this quitting of cigs bizniz![]()
You're doing really bloody well, MDB. Credit where credit's due and all that!
Its a strange state of affairs, a heroin addict i once knew told me that he found it easier to quit heroin than cigarettes. I dare say he's a pretty rare beast to hold such a view. Personally i find it extremely easy to stop cigs/nicotine, but fucking hard to stop taking even the minor opis. I also find it difficult to stay stopped with cigs/nicotine. It seems that onceyou get past the one month mark, it becomes easier and you are less likely to relapse. But taking things like benzos and opis dont half increase nicotine cravings. You're right about the effect of peeve being an anti nicotine thing, i wonder if its cos the brain allready has more than enough dopmaine swirling around and the last thing it wants is nicotine adding more into the mix.
) makes it a far trickier beast for me. A far sneakier addiction than heroin - you really do know exactly where you stand when quitting gear. Just hope I can quit the cigs before it gets to the stage of scary diagnoses cos I've got family history of such on both sides of the family, not to mention that Occasional Mrs Shambles passing is still rather fresh in mind and lung cancer was part of the overall diagnosis (albeit essentially impossible to tell for sure whether it was directly related to smoking or simply previous/other cancers spreading internally). Give me heroin addiction of nicotine addiction any day

helpfull and enlightening.
The "heroin is easier to quit than nicotine" thing is actually a very common view. And given I quit heroin relatively easily once I'd decided it really was time to quit but am really struggling with quitting cigs... I've always thought that it's cos nicotine w/d are just too minor. With heroin you really know you're quitting something and it takes serious grit and determination along with going over and over all the reasons why you want/need to stop and so on - it's a big deal. Quitting cigs is just irritating and you don't feel much difference one way or t'other immediately. The very fact that it's seemingly such a casual thing (I can quit cigs easily, but can I stay quit...) makes it a far trickier beast for me. And as for peev/cigs, I generally presume it's simply because it's a comparatively minor distraction compared to all the other distractions so you just never get around to it. It's true that the last thing your body is craving is any more dopamine though :D
And yes, congrats on cutting out the kratom - a good call, methinks.
