OK so my mate has 28 codeine pills which i am getting off him but the problem is, they have been transferred to a different container, so i have no idea what the actual amount of codeine in the pills is.

The pills are left over from when his mum had them prescribed for a piece of glass killing off nerve endings in her foot, so if anyone is smart they might be able to work out how much codeine would be prescribed for that sort of pain?

If not, is there any way that i would be able to see how much codeine is in them?
if there isn't a way then i am happy to just take small amount and work my way up until i find a decent dosage.

Thanks in advance.

What do they look like? Do they have any markings? If they're just plain pills then there's no way anyone will be able to tell you what's in them...

Yes you can, by typing a description of the pill into a pill identifier site, or google. (ie; small white round pill) include the imprint on the pill watever letters/#'s are on it. Good luck b careful dosing high with the apap (acetaminophen) consider a cold water extraction in the name of harm reduction =]

^This.

Type the color, shape, and imprint into google, or other pill identification website. Drug ID questions aren't allowed here on BL, though.

Isn't codeine OTC in New Zealand?

Either way you could perform a codeine extraction on the pills and weigh the result to get a good estimate. There could be other active alkaloids though (caffeine, promethazine, etc.) so checking the melting point would be advisable which would be a waste if you're only getting 28 pills.

You sure it's not hydrocodone? Codeine sounds a little weak for what you described.

im not sure if it is OTC, it might be, but wouldnt it look kind of suspicious if a 14 year old just walks into a pharmacy and buys some codeine?

and my mate said a while back he took one and it made him feel kind of sleepy

EDIT: he also said that 3-4 could be lethal o.O

Best to play it safe then, one pill makes you sleepy and three to four could kill you, you best Google those pill markings, because that doesn't sound like codeine.

codeine is OTC in new zealand and has much similar laws as we do in aus. i suggest you look up the kiwi equivalent of the SUSPD (The Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Drugs and Poisons) and it will definitely tell you the answer.

instead of closing this thread because it's been stated that we're not here to help you score pills, i'm going to keep it open as a dosing question thread as you've asked that in your last post.
