is it actually a crime to have drugs delivered for your own consumption, regardless of wether they are illegal or otherwise? I really don't fucking care. The NHS is useless. I don't deal drugs. I don't share drugs with other people. It is fucked up that I do better on medicine that comes in the mail at my expense than i do with medicine prescribed by so called professionals.
I suppose it's called going for private healthcare.

Presumably the plod would require a search warrant if they wanted to raid your house to find evidence of proper drug offences?
Do you think they're going to deliver such a warrant alongside a package they intercepted at customs which would have had zero identification as to what was actually held within?
This seems a bit fanciful to me. I've no doubt you trust the person who requested this thread be created Shams, but I don't think the police or border agency have anywhere near the resources to start going through millions of small, standard packages. Even if they found something, would they care that much to set up an entire sting operation because Jimmy here ordered a gram of some shit RC?

the police say its very very diffficult to get a warrant to opeen ANY item of mail in UK.
Customs are permitted to.
I have about 40-100 parcels and packets a day, maybe once every 6 months something comes through that customs have opened.
I regularly deliver overseas packets to someone who came out of prison in the last 12 months for class A drug offences.
Unless you've been in the international mail hubs at heathrow, or coventry you have no idea. See the inside of one and then think again about the likelihood ofthem finding a needle in a haystack.

You can open the door to them but without a warrant they have no legal right to enter your premise.
The only time police can legally enter your home without a warrant is to re-capture a fugitive, save life or make an arrest.
As you're neither a fugitive or harming life, the only other reason would be for arrest and if they're knowingly intercepting research chemicals which do not fall foul of drug laws (as stated above) then what exactly are they arresting for?
A warrant would be required to further search the property for illegal drugs, but again, I really don't see how such a widespread operation would be manned, nor why the police would care. I say this as an undercover agent, we're only after the big fish, not small time research chemical boshers with nothing better to do.

It's really not for me to speculate upon, but it is within the realms of possibility that it may have been more than a gramme. I really don't know. But it's possible I'd be surprised if it was only a gramme of some shit RC. Who knows? Who cares? Was perfectly legal to purchase in any quantities you so desired when it was ordered.
As for plod just making up elaborate tales for shitz 'n' giggz? I don't know what kinda interactions with plod you've had but that's not really the way it's ever gone when I've been in spending quality time with 'em. Letting you know exactly what has happened and how screwed you are likely to be as a result of their fiendishly clever machinations is the bit where they got hard and start rubbing 'emselves against stuff. They fukkin love it. Making stuff up is counterproductive cos when you get all the documents back the bloke looks a prick and may even have given your brief summat to work with. At least that's how it tended to go with me anyway.
Given the fact that customs was specifically mentioned I'm guessing some kinda joint operation. It may well be the case that they've been watching a particular vendor - or maybe even specific people here. I honestly don't know. But I really don't think it's a case of plucking packages at random and hoping for the best.
Well if they've just handed over a package of now-illegal drugs then presumably possession (presumably with intend if they've gone to all that trouble)? They know for a fact there are illegal drugs on the premises cos they just gave 'em to you so of course they don't need a warrant. Is one of many reasons why it's such a shitty trick.

Come to think of it, I honestly don't ever recall remembering to ask to check the warrant whenever a dozen massive fukkin coppers done from head to foot in body armour come barging in and proceed to try to beat their previous record for number of possessions trashed and amount of damage done that they know I'm gonna have to pay for if... when they so much as find a rizla with a powdery residue on it, a suspicious-looking dog-end in the ashtray or happen to have brought something hilarious along with them to "find". I probably should have asked to double check the paperwork was all legit really but tended to get a bit distracted by all the abuse screamed in my face and the really rather unpleasant (not to mention rather unnecessary) flurry of restraints, stress positions and general rough and tumble.
But if they've got a packet full of drugs from customs then that gives them reasonable suspicion to get a warrant and search your premises.
Incidentally, don't get carried away with the notion that it's somehow difficult for the police to get a warrant - all they need is to ask a right-wing Tory magistrate who beleives all drug users should be rounded up and consigned to a concentration camp. It's my guess he doesn't even read 99% of the warrants he's asked to authorise.

That isn't right. There was an episode of Traffic Cops where they found a bloke in a car with a bit of weed on him, found out he had a record for dealing so dashed round to his house, smashed the door in and found a cannabis farm. They didn't need a warrant there - they were smashing his door in within 10 minutes or so.
