As a bit of background info, for some reason I don't get any euphoria from oxycontin. I feel the effects on my body but no euphoria. Conversely, I quite enjoy tramadol which I know doesn't work for everyone. So I'm planning on taking my oxy and trams together in the hopes that I'll get the power of the oxy and the length and euphoria of the trams. I usually take 400mg of tramadol by itself (I'd probably take more but don't want to risk seizure) and I can take 40mg of oxy by itself easily without even feeling it too much. Now my question is, based on what I've said, would taking 300mg of trams with 40mg of oxy probably be ok for me or would I be risking ODing?
 
I read through that thread and found that I still didn't really get an answer. From what I could tell, tramadol and oxycontin affect different opioid receptors in the brain but that isn't really the problem. The problem is that they both cause respiratory depression and I want to know if the dose I want to take is likely to cause respiratory failure or not. I know the question is really specific to me personally and that no one can know for sure, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
 
Both sound like fairly low doses but you can't take your normal dose of each or else you could find yourself in trouble. I would start at half. That would be 20mg of oxy and 200mg of trams. You will have to decide what to do from there but at the very least try to wait a few hours between doses.

I would agree with this. And you said it yourself. This is something that's going to be highly individual and it's something we can't accurately answer, but I would start with half those doses at most. You can always take more if your initial dose doesn't get you the effects you're looking for, but if you take too much, narcan is your only hope for coming back.
 
Thanks for the advice. I'll do what you guys suggested and start with a half dose of each. I appreciate the replies.
 
It will get to a point where you are chasing the dragon and never catch it, you need to watch yourself. I can take 180mg's of Oxycontin and not feel anything different than taking my prescribed 60mg 5XD. It just make things worse and then at a point you will get the cold sweats until you can get back on schedule.
 
Are you sure it's even the opiate effect you like? Tramadol is only an opiate by pro-drug effect by its metabolite having effect on the opiate receptors, but it is a reuptake inhibitor of the SN type. Opiates have a dangerous dependant quality be careful
 
Tramadol vs oxycodone no comparison tramadol is shit period. I haven't had the pleasure of trying oxy but would be much more euphoric than tramadol, I had a seizure with that shit
