Possible Metal Shards in Pressed Pills (List)

There apparently are pressed pills going around that are pressed with shards of metal.

If anyone gets a pill with what they think is GLITTER, CHECK IT. Don't just test it, break it apart carefully and make sure. I'm sure I don't need to be the one with basic medical expertise to tell you that swallowing small shards of metal can cause SERIOUS damage to your GI tract. What's worse is, these shards can cause internal wounds, then the tissue will heal right over the shard, leaving it impregnated in the wound, until it perforates (which will result in emergency surgery). This damage is insidious, because it could potentially take a couple of months or longer to show up (granted this is worst case scenario. It depends on allot of things, such as how much fiber you take in) Whoever did this certainly has some bad karma coming their way.

Green Buddhas
Blue Playboys
White Spacemen (Astronauts)

Please be safe, and for crying out loud, PLEASE spread the word. We do not want people getting hurt or possibly worse as a result of someone else's malice.


EDIT: ANYONE who has consumed these should pay attention to your body, closely. If anything seems off, use your own discretion, and consider seeking medical attention.

Don't apologize for putting this up, waterheart. :) If, indeed, there are metal shards in pills, people should be aware of this. (And the presser should have very horrible & unmentionable things done to them!) :X :!

However; we don't want to create mass hysteria over a single report of metal shards, and from what I understand, there have been more than plenty of these going around. It's not that I doubt the original poster of the statement waterheart quoted, it could have been a metal shard that got into a pill by mistake. Let's face it, it's not like these pills are produced by a company that has quality control methods. :\ I hope that this thread will make people inspect their pills more closely (although we know this is not always possible) if they contain what looks like glitter.

My advice is this: invest in a mortar & pestle. These are great if you parachute pills on a regular basis, and if you use it with glitter pills, you should be able to pick the glitter out of the powdered pill. Or, if you can't get a mortar & pestle (there are plenty to be found online!), use a spoon in a bowl to crush the pill up & pick the glitter out. You might need some tweezers to help you do this, as you don't probably don't want to waste any of your pill by sticking your finger/fingernails into the powder.
 
Good heads up....have heard of pills going around w/ glitter....will definately be inspecting closer than usual if I come across any.

i wish i still had some i could take a picture of.

it looked like a single piece of glitter or an attempt of such on the top of the green ones.

from what i know this was a fuckup in the manufacturing
 
FWIW I had the Blue Buddhas going around SoCal which also had glitter in them. It was regular craft glitter and caused me no harm. It looked like this:

Yeah the pills I had appeared to be glitter as well. It looked kinda sketchy with it's shinier than normal texture but when the pill was crushed down it broke down too. Didn't cut me or appear to cause any discomfort for me.

Talking about Blue Buddahs and Blue Playboys in SoCal.
 
Could have been a mis-match with the press. Even being a couple thousandths of an inch off (.0001) could cause the bigger or offset die to be chaffed off little at a time or all at once (which could yield visible chunks of the aluminum die ending up in the pressed pill).

All in all, I doubt anyone out there pressing pills is making their dies from stainless steel or other super hard metals......so it's doubtful that any damage would be done to a person's GI tract from ingesting small bits of (I assume) aluminum. (the aluminum would most likely dissolve partially from your stomach acids)
 
I've had pink AOL man with glitter in them
im on west coast canada

probably some of the best e Ive touched in a LONG time, that was about 4 months ago now.
 
Thanks for that pic, Damien. I had the AOL/Bics that went around a while back with the glitter in them (it was the first ever glitter pills if I remember correctly) and that's exactly what it looked like. Regular old craft glitter (which is usually non-toxic bc of it's use in children's crafts).
 
A person I know came across some pills that were reputed to have crushed glass in them. I don't know for certain whether it was true. The rumour was that the person who pressed them thought it would put little cuts into the stomach/intestines that would allow for the chemicals to be absorbed straight into the bloodstream. Of course anyone with a grasp of human biology would know this is utter bullshit and couldn't possibly work (in fact it could inhibit the pill being absorbed) but I guess some of the people involved in making these don't have the qualifications they should.

But you can actually swallow small sharp things without them damaging you, I wouldn't panick.

Yeah, that would scare anyone. I seriously hope this was just an isolated incident.

Just an FYI, the initial post in this thread has been updated...another press has been added to the list, and the language has been changed slightly, and a link to the ED forum thread about this topic has been added to the post as well. My hope is that this thread gives people pause (especially those with the above-listed presses), to inspect their pills more closely before consuming them.


And.....this isn't the last time you'll hear me say this: Invest in a testing kit.

Even better crush your pills and dissolve it in water and filter this way even glass would be separated
 
this is crazy and absurd! not that you're disgusted by it, but that someone would do that. i've never heard or seen (thank the stars) of this! now i know to be even more careful
