Possibility of developing serotonin syndrome?

I recently took two hits of acid at once, and ever since (it's been a day and a half), I've had this headache that will not go away, and some slight nausea. I also was sweating in my sleep and started getting goosebumps (but that was while I was barely sleeping it off).

Should I be worried about the possibility of serotonin syndrome, or would that only happen if I had mixed the acid with some other drug?

I think that a day and a half is a bit too soon to draw any conclusions... my standard waiting time is of at least 3-4 days. If by then I do not see any improvements then I begin to worry.

Having said that, I still remember my first drug dose: took 3 doses of 6-apb (~500mg total) in 30 hours.... that put my head and body out of use for about 3 days (it was indeed an inconsiderate thing to do).

Headaches and nausea are relatively common side effects of acid and psychedelic substances, and they can be made worse depending on your overall health and body condition. Two hits of acid seem a bit too low to me to cause serotonine syndrome.

I say wait for 2-4 days more, and then seek help if you see that you are not getting better.

Thanks for the reply, I will do just that. I'm thinking the headache is either from low blood sugar or from sleeping too much, but I was still worried. Hopefully this headache will be gone ASAP.

LSD cannot cause serotonin syndrome. It is not a serotonin releaser.

That's what I was thinking as well, but a lot of internet sources say it does. Could that just be some weird anti-drug scare tactic?

I think it's just a misunderstanding. Neuroscience is a complex and esoteric subject, so things get misunderstood and miscommunicated quite frequently. But LSD definitely won't cause SS, it's just a partial agonist and has no effect on monoamine release.

Dehydration. I often get horrible dehydration headaches from psychedelics. Drink a ton of water and eat some healthy food.

The reason people claim that LSD can cause Serotonin Syndrome is because in the early 90's there was a person with suspected SS from taking LSD while on a lot of Prozac, and someone wrote a paper about it. LSD on it's own is not known to cause SS. I would not be worried about that.

I just took some painkillers and I think this headache is finally going away, even though I took some earlier today and it didn't help at all. I've been drinking plenty of water though.

A day and a half is certainly not a major cause for concern when we're talking about side-effects that are quite common in some individuals after any psychedelic experience. Although the majority of people do not have such a rough time after tripping, there are some people who get headaches and unpleasant side effects the day or two after almost all their trips. In my experience this is usually due to some fault of their own but this isn't always the case.

You say you've been drinking plenty of water, but were you doing this during the trip? Drinking plenty won't instantly cure a headache caused by prior dehydration. But yes, I suspect not staying hydrated or well fed during the trip might be the cause here.

Eat a nice meal, stay hydrated and it should fade over the next day or two :)

I didn't eat at all during the trip, and only drank a little bit of water. Could this be the reason? Right now the headache is gone but the nausea has gotten stronger. I just really want to feel normal again...

ime i think your fine, just lsd after effects imo.

lsd will destroy my head for atleast a couple days after sometimes up to a week after if i dose extremly to much in a bad mind state, my brother and his chicks the same way as me. i thinks its due to the lsd side effects already there on top of a tired body.

youll get better in time, time heals alot of things like that if its not to to serious like hospital serious. a consistent good diet and excersise routine will help 100 percent with comedowns and with the drugs primary effects its interesting.

good ole time/sleep helps me out alot, tasty meals help me out to maybe a benzo or opiate even. also just try to take your mind of it if possible try to do some activities this maybe hard but it could help you ride it out easier.
