Positive For Morphine When Using Codeine?

I had a hair follicle test recently which came back positive for morphine. I've been using codeine pretty regularly but this is ok with the testers due to legitimate use. I'm wondering, as morphine is a metabolite of codeine, if this is normal? Wasn't sure if hair follicle tests could pick up the difference between straight morphine use and it being a by product of codeine.

Last point on this is that yes, I have used straight up morphine on a couple of occasions but this isn't something I can admit to without getting myself in the shit. 8(

Yes, morphine is a metabolite of codeine.

Between 0-15% of codeine is O-demethylated to morphine...
