Poppy seed tea: from a skeptic to a believer

The past few days I have been chatting to my brother in New Zealand and he has been raving about poppy seed tea.
I have always been a little skeptical over the effects of it, as I have read glowing reports on nutmeg and datura, and I know from personal and from mates experience that these are rather horrid feeling highs.
I have always thought that poppy seed tea would feel pretty gross too.
I have had a fair bit of experience with the opiate family. I have shot smack, morphine, subutex (I do not advise this risky behaviour as it is for oral use only and without a micron filter it's very dangerous).
Done a fair share of codeine as well.
Today I decided to see if what my brother had told me was correct. He's older but has used far less drugs than I. I was actually pretty suprised when he said he had gotten really itchy from it, and had also gone into a dream like state.
Myself and my mate T decided to try it. We bought two jars of a well known brand of poppy seeds, each jar containing 240 grams of seed.
We also bought six lemons, which in hindsight was overkill.
We mixed the seed with some hottish water (about a glass or so), then added the juice of 6 lemons and let it sit for about an hour.(mixing it every 10 mins or so)
We then strained the seeds through a teatowel and ended up with two small glasses of lemony watery stuff.
I have to do some things tonight, and I know what I am like on harry so I decided just to have half a glass, my friend on the other hand, being quite tolerant of opiates had one and a half glasses.
Within about 20 minutes we started to feel something. I am assuming this is due to the fact we consumed it on an empty stomach, and I also take into consideration that were doing hard physical labour in his garden in the midday sun.
About an hour and a half after consuming the tea we both realised how very strong this is!
I am so suprised at the outcome. The feeling is very much like morphine (which is what is in them) and it's a muh nicer richer feeling than I get from codeine.
My friend was also amazed at the strength, he was pretty stoned last time I spoke to him so it definately gets a thumbs up from us.

Anyway, I just thought i'd post this report. I normally would'nt write anything like this but it has taken me by suprise and it's definately something I will try again.

So your dose was 120 seeds?

How strong was this compared to hydrocodone, oxycodone, etc? Can you make a comparison between the effects of your dose and the effects of a common dose of other opiates?

Just wonderin' cuz I might give this a try, but don't want to waste my time or end up puking all day long.

120 seeds will get you zero effects ;) but 120 grams might.

I tried 400 grams my first time, and I have zero opiate tolerance. I was on the verge of sickness all day long and didnt really enjoy the high. But, I dont really like opiates. My whole famliy reacts oddly to them.

Yeah it was about 120g of seeds. I have never used hydrocodone or oxycodone to my knowledge, and I can't give a definate on comaring it to an ammount of morphine as I have never measured it myself beofre, just been given a needle and told I won't drop. the only thing that I can properly compare it to would be about 120Mg of codeine, but without the emptiness of it and it did'nt have the side effects I contribute to codeine. (ie: headaches, restlessness)
It did feel like morphine. I felt a little queasy when it first started to come on, but that could also have been from drinking warm lemon juice LOL
Honestly, I did'n think it would be as good as I had heard/read, but it really does work and it is a viable option for a nice opiate buzz. Next time I will have 240g myself and see how that is.
Slept really well too and I feel very refreshed today!

hmmm, i boiled a half a pound of seeds and drank the result. all i got was a mild relaxed feeling (about a year ago that is)

Don't boil it, anything over 60 degrees can destroy the morphine in them, just use hot tap water and soak them, also add lemon juice, or pineapple juice as this converts the morphine into diamorphine so I have read.

Hey, good report, I see you're a fellow Aussie. I wrote a report here about tea combined with Xanax, will have another one coming up soon.

Where did you read that about diamorphine? Interesting, I have been wondering about this, as heroin was first synthesised by Bayer by boiling morphine with acetic acid, right?

ah, i missed that part in the orignal post, that dude man just let the seeds soak in hottish water... i think i'll try this again then

They sure are.

Xherrus: i think xanax would go well rather nicely with poppy seed tea, I am a big fan of xanax myself :)

ok, before i rush out and buy another pound of poppy seeds (they tend to look at you weird at the counter when you do that) where do you live rm1x (what country) and do you know what kinds of seeds specifically they were? because i heard somewhere that it matters specifically what kind of seed it is and some are only available overseas (i live in the US)... or sumpin like that. not that it'll really make much difference to me... i buy em at whole foods, or central market... and its not like there are a bunch of different types for sale, just regular poppy seeds used for cooking. anyway, i'd like to know, thanks

I'm in Australia. As far as I know all the cooking seeds come from Papaver somniferum plants, which is the opium poppy. They use radiation ot sterilize the seeds to stopm them from growing and they wash them as well to remove any of the narcotic, but they don't wash them well enough.

Just follow the directions I did, use less lemon juice.
